After he came home a gold medal winner in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Jesse Owens was never really acknowledged or congratulated by FDR. Here is a quote from him speaking at a Republican rally in Kansas City in October 1936 “...it was our president who snubbed me. The president didn’t even send me a telegram.”
