I recall watching a 1984 biography movie on Owens that starred Dorian Harewood in the main role and that is where I first learned about FDR basically ignoring the man and his very remarkable achievement and even my parents were taken that little bit aback when they learned about that through that movie. I also remember watching in 1984 a mini series “The First Olympics: Athens 1896” that featured David Ogden Stiers, Louis Jourdan, Angela Lansbury, Honor Blackman, and a young David Caruso. Very well done as I remember.

FDR catered to southern segregationists in congress to ensure his policies were enacted. His failure to support anti-lynching legislation was a bitter disappointment to his activist wife.
