My guess is that there were two motivations for Trump's advocacy of masks. First, it provides some cover for RINO governors like Abbott in Texas and Bentley in Alabama, whose statewide mask mandates are unpopular among conservatives. Second, Trump's advisers worry about the suburban Karens, who flipped toward the Democrats in 2018. By endorsing masks, the hope is that this will placate these middle class white female busybodies.

He hasn’t been duped, but like it or not there are thousands of more positive tests (yes, I know in some cases it’s BS) but it is out there. And it’s an election year and we have many Karens and Chads. Lethal? Not in 99.8% of cases, but nonetheless, there are people getting it and there are people confused as hell. He’s saying wear it if you want to...he’s not mandating or suggesting. I chose not to...others manly chose to wear one. That’s freedom.
