The big news from President Trump’s weekend interview with Fox’s Chris Wallace is that Wallace challenged Trump’s contention that Biden has agreed to defund the police. (Trump is right; Wallace is wrong. Just saying.) What got some press, although not as much, is Trump’s claim that the standard cognitive test he took was “very hard.” Wallace smugly countered this assertion, as did every Democrat. Trump, of course, will have the last laugh because he’s forcing Biden to take the test.
During the interview with Wallace, Trump pushed hard about Biden’s mental competence (emphasis mine):
TRUMP: And you know why I won’t lose, because the country in the end, they’re not going to have a man who – who’s shot. He’s shot, he’s mentally shot. Let him come out of his basement, go around, I’ll make four or five speeches a day, I’ll be interviewed by you, I’ll be interviewed by the worst killers that hate my – my guts.

To the uninitiated, Trump sounds moronic. To those who know how Trump works, he just threw down the gauntlet and Biden’s in big trouble. By saying the basic test is hard, and boasting about his outcome, Trump not only got Chris Wallace to say the test is easy, he got everyone else on the left to do the same:

The entire Trump campaign is now perfectly positioned to say, “Okay, let Biden prove he isn’t mentally incompetent. Let him prove he’s smarter than Trump. Every single Democrat is insisting the test is easy. Therefore, Biden should ‘ace’ it, just as Trump -- who said it was ‘hard’ -- aced it.”

When it is your opponent, yes.
I don’t think Trump is mocking dementia. Merely trying to highlight that his opponent may be suffering from it and is unable to competently fulfill his duties.
The Biden campaign has not pushed back very hard to disprove the dementia sentiment IMO. They will need to at some point and Trump won’t let them run out the clock.

If Biden takes the test and fails, so what. The media will just lie about it. I believe that’s the plan for the whole election — they will call whatever they want for Biden and simply ignore the truth. Deny, deny, deny. Nobody will stop it, certainly not the GOP, most of whom want Trump gone as much as the (openly) Left. Or are we really going to pin our hopes of Roberts?
I can’t even see You-Ain’t-Black Biden taking the test and passing even if he used the Donna Brazille Method (media publishes all of the questions and answers publicly, Joe memorizes them before answering). The reason is that in a debate, Trump will challenge him to one of the questions - and Biden will be stuck. Another reason there will be no debate now - being challenged on his cognitive decline. But to save face .... You-Ain’t-black Biden’s campaign will counter that he will take the test after DJT releases 40 years of tax returns - which they know won’t happen.
Trump’s strategy will be to take any interview, whether friendly, unfriendly or downright hostile, in order to flood the zone and make it obvious to all that they ain’t seen Joe in awhile.
