Over 100,000 Americans Have Volunteered For Covid-19 Vaccine Trial In Less Than Two Weeks

About 138,600 Americans have already volunteered to participate in clinical trials for a Covid-19 vaccine less than two weeks after the launch of a national effort to sign up a total of 120,000 participants to help test four vaccines beginning this fall, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

KEY FACTS

* In an effort to recruit the vast number of volunteers needed to test potential vaccines, NIAID launched the website for the Covid-19 Prevention Network July 8, where volunteers can sign up.

* The Prevention Trials Network was created by combining four already existing clinical trial networks funded by the NIAID.

* There will be over 100 testing sites across the U.S. with the possibility of sites opening internationally as well.

* After registering on the website, volunteers are given a questionnaire that’s designed to evaluate how likely they are to become infected with the virus and whether they are eligible for the clinical trials.

* A potential vaccine developed by Moderna, which recently published the results of a promising 45-person trial, is expected to be the first vaccine tested in a large Phase 3 trial. Other vaccines in line for Phase 3 trials have been developed by AstraZeneca, Inovio and Johnson & Johnson.

KEY BACKGROUND

According to the Covid-19 Prevention Network website, most studies will require volunteers to visit a research site at least 10 times over one or two years where they will be injected with either a potential vaccine or a placebo. Researchers won’t infect volunteers with Covid-19 but rather will give volunteers the vaccine and see if that prevents them from becoming infected.

***KEY BACKGROUND

According to the Covid-19 Prevention Network website, most studies will require volunteers to visit a research site at least 10 times over one or two years where they will be injected with either a potential vaccine or a placebo. Researchers won’t infect volunteers with Covid-19 but rather will give volunteers the vaccine and see if that prevents them from becoming infected. According to a spokesperson from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, which serves as the operations center for the Covid-19 Prevention Network, the trials aim to be as inclusive as possible and recruit multi-generational and multi-ethnic volunteers. The researchers are also focusing on communities that have been hardest hit by the pandemic and people with underlying conditions.

CRUCIAL QUOTE

“While this early response is very gratifying, it is important to note that this is just a fraction of the number of people needed to participate in various trials and ensure adequate representation of various demographic categories” said a spokesperson for the NIAID.***

The background part tells us, “most studies will require volunteers to visit a research site at least 10 times over one or two years ”

I guess that means we will have a safe and reliable vaccine ready to go next year, right? Oh wait, no, not ready for a few more years at least? Got it. Lockdowns continue indefinitely.

The critical quote part indicates that Fauci needs a lot more human volunteers. I wonder if that’s because they fast tracked the usual research time. Didn’t they skip the part where we tested lab animals for a year first?

The point remains: We’ve never had an approved SARS vaccine. I think the only one approved worldwide was in Taiwan durin the 2003 SARS epidemic, and that got pulled once children who received the vaccine started to die soon after.

Oh, and another thing.

“Researchers won’t infect volunteers with Covid-19 but rather will give volunteers the vaccine and see if that prevents them from becoming infected.”

How will they determine if this will prevent them from becoming infected unless they try to infect them? Isn’t that part of testing a vaccine to see how much (dosage wise) is needed to thwart the virus?

I think they are heroes. They volunteered to help. Some people give blood, some people work at food banks, some people do this form of self-sacrificing effort to help. I don’t understand mocking people on this at all.

I am curious about the risks of a trial vaccine.

In March I said tens of thousands would volunteer for tests of HCQ + zinc + zPack or any combination thereof. In April Ivermectin could have been tested as well. And D3 and C could have been tested too. Instead expensive invasive vaccines are tested. The economic deep state at work...

Pretty easy really. If those that were given the test vaccine come down with the Covid, you know it is not effective. This is possible if you have 100,000 people to study. You can also have more accurate results if you vaccinate people who are likely to be exposed to the virus because of lifestyle and work environments.

What could possibly go wrong with a vaccine that cannot be tested for long-term effects?

Those folks should be put on a suicide watch.

My problem is with them trying to tell us that it works, not if it doesn’t work. They are taking away the number one variable that they can control. They don’t want to inject people with the virus, but to my knowledge, they have fast tracked this to skip the usual laboratory side of things, where we test on animals first. Maybe with PETA. we’ve stopped using lab animals in our research completely?

I found the following on a link in the original article, where it tells how you can sign up. Am I the only person who has a problem with the fast track? Does anyone else know what parts they’ve skipped?

***Despite the delay, the Covid-19 vaccine trials are moving at an unprecedented speed, as researchers try to accomplish in months what usually takes years.

Del Rio said he enrolls six or seven study subjects a week in a typical clinical trial, but for the Covid vaccine trial he’ll try to enroll that number in a day. Eventually, he aims to have a total of 750 study subjects at three Atlanta-area sites.

He noted that he still has not yet received approval from Emory’s Institutional Review Board to begin the trial, a requirement before moving forward.

“This is the most complicated research study I’ve ever done, and we need to do it in record time,” del Rio said, noting that he is still hiring staff and securing facilities for the trial.

Dr. Richard Novak, another clinical trial veteran agrees.

“I’ve been doing vaccine trials for 25 years, but this is the largest I’ve ever committed to and I just don’t have enough staff and I don’t have enough space,” said Novak, who will be leading the Moderna trial at the University of Illinois at Chicago.***

Guinea pig morons.

That's a pretty ignorant statement. Informed people would review the risks / rewards, and determine if it's best for them.

Sorry if that bothers you.

From what I understand, the trials at this point occur after the vaccine has been tested on animals and small human subjects to ensure it is being given at a dose that is safe and will work. This is a common way vaccines are tested to ensure they work and are safe for the population. I support these trials and happy so many people are willing to participate to, in the future, help protect seniors and those at higher risk.

It’s unfortunate many on this board don’t support vaccines or the vaccine development that president Trump has worked hard to implement to get us over this issue.
