‘No. He said No. He said “Many say wearing masks is a sign of patriotism”
he did a photo op of himself in a mask; he said “Many say wearing masks is a sign of patriotism...’ he went on to say ‘there is nobody more patriotic than me...’ (should be I,BTW)
so ‘wearing a mask is patriotic’, and ‘nobody is more patriotic than me’ are two independent and unrelated phrases to you?
He insists that it should be left to individual judgment, and not mandated. And as others pointed out, the only times he has worn a mask is inside an enclosed industrial area, and in a hospital. Hardly a trip to the Kroger or meeting people outside, etc. Mainly, he is not questioning the patriotism of many who wear masks, trusting their motives. He himself is also very patriotic, even though he does not ordinarily wear a mask, but will if he believes the situation calls for it.
Of course, even if I am misinterpreting the president’s words, there is also the possibility that he is mistaken.
