There is a fairly horrible Mark Wahlberg movie called “Shooter” in which musician Levon Helm has a brief cameo (best part of the movie). He explains what happens to assassins. Specifically he says, “The fellow on the grassy knoll was dead and buried in the desert three hours later.”
An FBI agent is skeptical and says, “You know that for a fact?”
Helm: “I still got the shovel!”

I could be the last part of the plan, to close the hunt down, the assassin finds a patsy, dresses him up in Fed-ex uniform, then kills him.

The book was good, though.
