One of the things that made me proud to be American was that our government was big enough and confident enough to honor Americans who fought against it in the 1860s. Should we raise statues to Axis Sally, Benedict Arnold, Tokyo Rose, and the American citizens who fought for Germany in World War II?
But again, I don't care what states do. And if the federal government decides to change their opinion of those who fought against us in the Southern rebellion then I don't have a problem with that either.

The difference is the Confederates were not traitors. They did not provide aid and comfort to an enemy or make war upon them (the states). They lawfully seceded. Lincoln then attacked them and forced them to defend themselves.
