Sen. Hawley Urges DOJ Probe into Soros Prosecutor’s Targeting of McCloskeys

'There is no question under Missouri law that the McCloskeys had the right to own and use their firearms to protect themselves...'

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., is calling for a federal civil rights investigation into the politically motivated targeting of a St. Louis married couple who exercised their Second Amendment rights in the face of a Black Lives Matter mob.

Hawley sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr on Thursday stating that St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, a George Soros-backed elected prosecutor, is engaging in “an unacceptable abuse of power.”

Mark and Patricia McCloskey brandished firearms on the front steps of their home on June 28, after a mob of protesters trespassed on their property and threatened them.

Although police were slow to arrive, the confrontation was resolved without anyone being hurt.

But that hasn’t stopped Gardner from aiming the full force of her office at the couple.

Gardner has seized their legally owned guns, ordered a criminal investigation, applied for warrants and is reportedly planning a criminal indictment.

According to Hawley, none of those actions are justified.

“There is no question under Missouri law that the McCloskeys had the right to own and use their firearms to protect themselves from threatened violence, and that any criminal prosecution for these actions is legally unsound.”

In a Fox News interview, Albert Watkins, the McCloskeys’ attorney, said that Missouri’s “Castle Doctrine” affords a person “the absolute unmitigated right to protect his or her castle [home] or family while on their property.”

Watkins added that the protesters were trespassing and “damaging and destroying private property and acting in a threatening and hostile fashion.”

In his letter, Hawley pointed to the fact that Gardner declined to prosecute dozens of violent rioters and looters after they were arrested in St. Louis following the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Eric Schmidt, Missouri’s state attorney general, was appalled at her decision and posted video evidence of arson and mayhem on social media.

Hawley concluded that, “The only possible motivation for the investigation, then, is a politically motivated attempt to punish this family for exercising their Second Amendment rights.”

Gardner, one of many Soros-backed prosecutors across the nation, was elected in 2016 on a platform of criminal justice reform.

In a statement, she described the encounter between the McCloskeys and the protesters as “a violent assault” against people exercising their First Amendment rights.

“I am alarmed at the events that occurred over the weekend, where peaceful protesters were met by guns and a violent assault,” Gardner said. “We must protect the right to peacefully protest, and any attempt to chill it through intimidation or threat of deadly force will not be tolerated.”

But Hawley isn’t buying it.

“St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner is now threatening to prosecute not the trespassers, but the McCloskeys, and she is using the powers of her office to target them,” he wrote.

“No family should face the threat of harassment or malicious prosecution for exercising that [Second Amendment] right,” he continued. “The Department of Justice must ensure that all Americans’ rights are protected from this kind of abuse of power.”

As soon as those rioters broke down the gate adjacent to the MCCloskey’s home, they were NO LONGER PEACEFUL PROTESTORS.

I would’ve liked to see Mccloskeys resist the illegal warrant and illegal confiscation.

St. Louis Prosecutor Elected With Soros Money Released “Every Single Looter And Rioter”

https://conservativedailypost.com/st-louis-prosecutor-elected-with-soros-money-released-every-single-looter-and-rioter/

Many people do not find this surprising, considering that the many organizations funded by George Soros seek to release prisoners constantly.

In St. Louis, a city prosecutor who was elected with the help of money from George Soros’ organization, has released “every single rioter and looter” arrested after the massive destruction and carnage carried out.

STL Today reported:

The 36 people arrested during two nights of protests in St. Louis have been released from jail, a police spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Their release drew a rebuke from Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who criticized city prosecutors.

Two people were released after being issued a summons, eight were released after prosecutors declined to immediately file charges and the remainder were released while police apply for charges, the spokeswoman, Michelle Woodling, said in an email.

Schmitt, a Republican, took to Twitter on Wednesday to lash out at Circuit Attorney Kimberly M. Gardner, a Democrat, blaming her for the release.

“In a stunning development, our office has learned that every single one of the St. Louis looters and rioters arrested were released back onto the streets by local prosecutor Kim Gardner,” he tweeted, along with a video showing a street scene with a burning vehicle and audible gunshots.

Gardner responded to Schmitt’s claims in a video posted Wednesday to YouTube.

“To be clear, as of right now the police department brought to my office a group of eight individuals involving stealing for prosecution,” Gardner said. “We need police to bring admissible evidence to charge. My office cannot issue any case when there is not admissible evidence. Point blank.”

She said police investigators assured her that when they have the necessary evidence they will return to her office to have the cases prosecuted. Gardner then took aim at Schmitt.

“It is clear that he does not care about justice or safety or the needs of this community,” she said. “He just wants to lodge a politically motivated attack against me, even if it means misleading and lying to the public.”

[Many people point out that it is a well-known liberal tactic to accuse others of what you are doing.]

Police arrested the 36 on suspicion of trespassing, burglary, causing property damage, stealing and assault. They range in age from 17 to 36 but the majority of them are teens and people in their 20s.

Mayor Lyda Krewson said Wednesday that her office is working to persuade the Circuit Attorney’s Office and circuit judges to keep those arrested behind bars.

“It’s important to not send them right back out on the street and I know some of that has been happening,” Krewson said. “So that is not something that is in control of the mayor’s office, or frankly, the police department who work extremely hard to make these arrests and deserve for people to be held so they’re not right back out there doing the same thing.”

That seems to be exactly what these Soros-bought-and-paid-for politicians want, many people argue.

Good - because this was/is COMPLETELY unjustified. Not just taking their firearms, but PURPOSELY making an announcement of the fact that they are now vulnerable to an attack.

Let’s hope that Bill Barr orders an investigation to begin right f’ing NOW!!!!

Of course, there’s another issue at play, dealing with preparedness.

So, if this happened to me and the local DA did this to me, I would have another firearm with which to defend myself. They took just the firearms that were on film, not anything else. If you are prepared, you have back-ups. Two is one and one is none.

None of this, of course, changes the fact that this prosecutor is a tyrant, and that she should be personally sued for deprivation of their civil rights under color of law. I would DEFINITELY sue her, sue the city, county, state and every single person involved (including the cops - just to make the point that without their involvement and cooperation, this couldn’t have happened...but I would later drop the case against them).
