If that is to be the case, then sports should be removed from all Colleges.
We would call putting non-collegiate qualified people on their sports teams, ringers in a sane world.
And that's been going on for decades.
Colleges are for learning.

A few years ago I confronted the head coach of the college I then worked at about how a player I had flunked in the Spring could be eligible to play in the Fall. The coach told me that he and other coaches knew of certain online courses being taught at other colleges where a student could register, do little if anything, and receive a passing grade to retain their eligibility. The grade received in the online course could then be used to replace the failing grade. It is all a scam.
