“Was” being the operative word. John Roberts might have been a good judge at some point too, but that was then, this is now.

Because he was actually quite a good Senator. The funny thing is, other than being a reliable vote, I can't find any committees he chaired (excluding sub-committees and minority ranking), no legislation that he sponsored that became law, or anything else distinguishing him as a Senator.

The problem is that he wasn't that good.
I have a standard for congress critters and that is "what have you actually DONE?" A little less talk and a lot more action.
By that standard Jeff was not all that or a bag of chips.
