Also Cruz’s behavior in the 2016 GOP primary and at the GOP convention alienated a lot of Republican voters. I think those fences are mended, though. But I’m not sure.

That’s not my point. My point is that we can’t ever just sit back on our laurels and think “Texas will never turn blue”. We need to be vigilant always ... as if it could turn blue in any election. If we ever take a relaxed approach, it could happen.

Wouldn’t surprise me with all of the new residents that came from left wing states.

You are correct! The surprising thing is that people flee the oppression of the left wing, but turn around and vote for the same policies in the places they flee to.

Cornyn is an uninspiring empty suit.

Which makes him vulnerable.

Not all of them, fortunately. I know a few that moved here from California who are as conservative as most of us native Texans.

LOL. You know the Dems / Liberals / Media, they cannot differentiate between words and actions. Name calling is violence when they receive it, and therefore respond with physical violence and call it peaceful protesting. They cannot differentiate between acts and words.

So, if they say ‘blue wave in Texas’ enough times and rub their magic unicorn or something they think it becomes real. Then reality gets in the way and they suffer extreme cognitive dissonance and become violent and blame the Republicans for not making all of their wishes come true.

Maybe not all, but in Georgia, we get quite a few from New Yawk and vicinity, who don’t quite make it all the way to Florida, and they continuously insist on telling us “how it’s done up north”. That’s part of the reason that the district that was held by Newt Gingrich is now held by a gun grabbing dem socialist who doesn’t even live in the district.

Wait, I thought Texas turned blue in 2016 and 2018. Isn’t that what they told us?

. That simply isn’t good enough when Democrats have core values and aggressively pursue their agenda.

The Democrats have core values alright, like immediate banning of fracking if Biden takes power.
The oil industry accounts for a massive 40% of the economy of Texas.
In one stroke Biden proposes to wipe out close to half the jobs in Texas.
Winning Texas will be very easy for Trump. And for Cornyn, flawed as he may be. It won't even be close.

Hilary was beating Trump in 2016 too. At least that's what this Washington Post poll told me in September 2016. Result? Trump won by 9%.:

The winning margin may shrink, or it may grow. We have no way of knowing. But the idea that Texas is even close to flipping is ridiculous.

Yup, that’s why Ted Cruz won in a landslide against the skateboard kid...

Ok, so it was the smallest landslide in history against a punk who ran in Texas as a gun-grabber, but I’m sure you’re right...

Dems had help from Paul Ryan to win the House.

The only time I’ve voted for a (D) was to hope Cornyn lost. No such luck, but that bastard does need to go.

“Beto” spent four times as much as Ted Cruz. He raised a record $80 million mostly from Hollywood crazies.
And two, there was something residual resentment of Cruz from Trump supporters from the bitter 2016 campaign between Trump and Cruz.
Third point is 2018 was not a presidential election year. 2020 is and Trump is at the head of the ticket.

It was a contested election with lots of radio ads. Most of the ones I heard were about the West campaign, claiming that Hegar was not a liberal.

I did not hear any radio ads as I listen to Sirius. However, I did see a lot of M.J. Heger TV spots. She is running hard left, and one of her spots is replete with BLM signs, protestors, etc. I saw only one or two spots for West, the guy she defeated in the runoff.

Interestingly, there was a Cornyn ad that contrasted Cornyn with West, the guy who lost the primary. Why would the Cornyn people put out an ad against a 'rat when there was a runoff yet to be contested? Seems a waste to me.

Dems had help from Paul Ryan to win the House.

You can say that again. Ryan is the slimiest, most slithery snake I ever met.
There were lots of reasons the GOP lost the House, top amongst them being that historically, the party in power loses the House in the first mid terms.
However one of the top reasons the GOP lost the House in 2018 was Paul Ryan. He did everything they in his power to make sure we lost. He was not running again and didn't give two hoots about the people he left behind.
