In a dubious fact-check put out over the weekend, USA Today falsely claimed that it was true that the Trump campaign was using a Nazi symbol (an eagle with wings out stretched holding a circular American flag) on a shirt being sold on their website. But after getting rightly ridiculed for their naked effort to associate President Trump with Nazism, while eagles were a common feature in American iconography, the paper tried to have it both ways by walking back the ruling to inconclusive.

This is so funny. Caught in an obvious lie, they refuse to own up to it. So, they simply tell another lie to "cover it up". They think they have saved face.

It’s not just part of the “iconography,” the bald eagle is the national bird!

Perhaps the Liberty University Lawsuit against the NY Slimes for slander has caught the attention of this rag and has them backpedaling?

I also drink tea; and coffee, and beer, and whiskey so I guess I can’t be Hitler.
Although my ancestors on my mothers side did immigrate from Prussia in the 1790’s, apparently they did something to piss off the Hohenzollerns.

It wasn't just the Nazis who used the eagle as a symbol. The Prussian state used it prior to the coming to power of the Nazis. The Russian czars had a flag using a double eagle. In fact, ceremonially I think they still do.

Is USA Today going to now also slander every member of the Marine Corps as Nazis? I mean Eagle and Globe must be a Nazi symbol right?
