NY State framework for the new School year
State Education Department

Posted on 07/15/2020 7:09:43 AM PDT by Bayard

...“Creating a framework to reopen New York’s schools has been an undertaking of paramount effort, made even more difficult by the devastating impact the pandemic has had here in New York State,” said Board of Regents Chancellor Betty A. Rosa. “This framework and the guidance which will follow allows schools to plan for the upcoming school year under three different scenarios that aim to keep our children, educators and school personnel safe and encourages equitable access to high-quality services for all students.”...

"...Focused on preventive actions, schools will be required to: perform health checks and screenings, per DOH guidance, and recognize signs and symptoms of illness in students and staff; develop plans to maximize social distancing; develop plans to manage and isolate ill persons until they can be sent home; instruct students and staff in proper hand and respiratory hygiene; require wearing appropriate face coverings; and develop cleaning and disinfecting procedures for the school in accordance with CDC and DOH guidance...."

"Schools must create a comprehensive plan for a schedule that includes in-person instruction, remote instruction or a hybrid of both in-person and remote. All plans should be clearly communicated, with as much advanced notice as practicable, to students, families and staff...."

"Reopening Plan Timeline By July 31, all districts and schools are required to create and submit to the Department Reopening Plans at the school level which should be posted on their public website and must contain the mandatory elements outlined in NYSED’s School Reopening Guidance Document."

If they don’t fully open, then school property taxes need to be rebated.

Yeah if you read it there’s wiggle room for, “if they open” language.

Lots of education administrators are spinning their wheels thanks to the government not decisively clear about reopening.

If you need a “framework “ for opening schools you’re full of shit and are playing political games.

All students should be reading “Alice in Wonderland” this summer.

It will prepare them for the coming school year. :-)

The schools are all asking for tax increases. And more buses. And the public is giving it all to them.

No matter what option they choose, there will be problems, complaints, hardships, dangers, etc.

Occam’s razor is the simplest solution is probably the best.

So just open up, let the chips fall where they may and let the market decide.

But that will never happen. There’s too much money at stake.

If we're going online, sell the buses and school buildings and give the money back to the taxpayers.
