At Penn State University, all voices are equal, but some are more equal than others.
Thats the message the school sent to conservative students after it postedand then deleteda tweet apparently intended to express support for campus minorities, including those with conservative beliefs.
Dear conservative students: Your viewpoints are important, the tweet stated along with affirmations for several other campus demographics. The post concluded, Dear ALL students: We are here to support and learn from one another.
But it appears many dont share that sentiment. Social media exploded in anger over the statement, prompting the school to remove the egregious tweet.
The universitys campus newspaper, The Daily Collegian, covered the controversy.
Conservatives in the United States do not live in a system that was built from the blood and trauma of their ancestors a system that continues to put down people who look like [their ancestors] every day, student Cassandra Nuñez told the paper.
Another student, Imani Murray, said that by adding conservative students to a tweet about inclusivity, the university neglected her experience as a black woman.
[Conservative students] are some of the students that call us the N-word and show us firsthand what white supremacy really is, she said.
In a statement to Campus Reform, Penn State Director of Strategic Communications William Hessert, Jr. said the tweet was deleted because, while it was meant to express the inclusive, democratic and participatory values of the liberal arts, the message was not being received well and it is important for us that our messages be received as intended.
While we do not believe in deleting our posts, given the sensitivities of the matter we felt that it was better to remove it, Hessert added.
Jordan Clark, president of the Penn State College Republicans, told Townhall that he was both surprised and disappointed by the university's handling of the situation but does not believe that the college was trying to send a negative message toward conservatives by deleting their tweet. He does, however, believe that backtracking was the wrong move.
"Had they left the tweet up and ignored the outrageous responses from left-leaning students and community members, I believe that there would have been less conflict," Clark said in an email. "Diversity of thought is essential, especially at a large public institution such as Penn State University. In the opinion of the Penn State College Republicans, fostering an inclusive environment for ALL students should not cause conflict of any kind."
Kara Zupkus, assistant editor of The New Guard for Young Americas Foundation, concurred.
Penn State should never bend a knee to the rage mob," she told Townhall. "The fact that leftists were so upset at the idea that conservatives should be welcome on campus shows just how necessary the initial tweet was. Its time for Americas universities to stop the bullying of conservative students and ensure they also feel welcome on campus.
Indeed, Penn States decision to back down on its attempt to recognize its conservative students is evidence of the very disenfranchisement and alienation the tweet originally sought to address. Unfortunately for conservatives, intellectual diversity is not among the brands of diversity championed on American campuses.
Man WE better get woke quick.
How could anyone on their administration think this is ok?
This is good news. The faster the University Indoctrination System falls, the better the country is going to be.
Universities have long been a rat warren for powerful apparatchiks who rotate out of administrations. Larry Summers and Donna Shalala come to mind.
There are many, many others.
Never bow to a liberal it’s a sign of weakness they are the one;s who need to be bowing they are failures.
Conservatives in the United States do not live in a system that was built from the blood and trauma of their ancestors ...
Ignorance, thy name is Leftist.

I only searched for the title, and I did not find the title in the search.
There was a time in college when rigorous debate was encouraged and embraced between contrasting opinions.
“Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio. A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy.”
Are female students now a minority there? What problem does the administration assume ‘latinx’ students have with walls? Are there only students from two religions at this institution?
Yet states where the legislature and the administration are controlled by republicans/conservatives/libertarians continue to fund tertiary education as if everything is hunky dory. If things are ever going to change the legislatures of the states and the federal government need to step in and cut the purse strings of these state schools. So called academic freedom is now an oxymoron, there is no freedom to express views that conflict with the woke.

Oh the irony!
All of this would go away if the Republicans would just work up the courage to start defunding these institutions. But they won’t.
Either a liberal or a conservative echo chamber educational facility, no longer is an educational facility.

GOP Senator Tillis, running for reelection in NC, is giving himself high fives for getting $27 million of taxpayer for Wake Forest University Medical Center to do a Covid study. The study is essentially a daily email sent to people in the community who volunteer to fill out the survey daily. The survey asks how the person is feeling and provides a list of symptoms. The respondents can check any of the symptoms they may be experiencing. So far about 18000 people are participating.
Consider the cost — $27 million dollars. What were the costs? Writing the survey. Setting up the database. Programming the computer to send out the daily survey to the respondents and then receive the information. Once it is set up it all the work is done by computer. No need for human activity by the administrators. The respondents are providing the information at no cost.
How could this have possibly cost more than a million dollars to set up? Who is getting the benefit of the other $26 million? This is a huge boondoggle, likely for big pharma who will get the data for no cost.
Tillis, the establishment never Trumper, has done nothing for conservative voters for 5 1/2 years. He does everything for the donor class. He is now scrambling to appear to be relevant to a GOP voter base he has essentially ignore. It is another hold my nose and vote for Tillis or risk a leftist Democrat getting the seat choice for Republican voters. In other words no choice since if Tillis is reelected he will send the next five years serving the deep state.
On the tearing down of statues across the state, Tillis is hiding in the weeds.
Agreed.
Conservatives have been living under the bushel basket of bon homme. The Leftists, Democrats, and MSM HATE conservatives, hate with a white hot, murderous passion.
This large, socialist (nee' fascist) movement will kill us in our sleep, if not at work or the public assembly.
I sadly think that we will go silently into the night..
You can’t make this stuff up.
When you know the metrics for your side of any debate will always lose, kill the opposition so there is no debate.
