The Los Angeles Teachers Union says its schools can’t open in the fall unless charter schools are closed and the police are defunded.
These are the Marxist loons teaching your kids.
Oh, and they want more money.
83% of teachers voted to not reopen in the fall.
But they still expect to get paid.
Just the News reported:
United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to “keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18.”
The union outlined numerous major provisions it says will be necessary to reopen schools again, including sequestering students in small groups throughout the school day, providing students with masks and other forms of protective equipment, and re-designing school layouts in order to facilitate “social distancing.”
Yet the union goes even farther than those requests, calling for “local support” in the form of defunded police departments and the shuttering of charter schools.
Police violence “is a leading cause of death and trauma for Black people, and is a serious public health and moral issue,” the union writes.

The last "Life Liberty and Levin" with Thomas Sowell had a great deal of fantastic information and statistics about CHARTER SCHOOLS.
It was a great hour of tv.

Just pay a per dime wage. Work...get paid, no work...no money. Pretty simple. We could apply it to Congress too.

Unfortunately the leading cause of death for black people in urban cities run by democrats are black people.

So who will win the shootouts between the cops and teachers? From my experience, their is unlikely to be a winner. However the playground would be a bloodbath.
In other words, like every shootout from the TV Series "The A-Team," except for the kids caught in the crossfire.

Thank you Lord as all of our children are adults, grandkids are basically adults and a few great nieces/nephews are being homeschooled via private online Christian schools.

These left-wing $hit stains are indoctrinators, NOT “teachers.” They should be fired and put in prison. I was listening to the "Ken and John" radio show out of Los Angeles, I believe. It was about 1999.
The had an assistant principle from an LA school come on. He said:
"Our school has perfect diversity. We all look different, and we all think alike."
No, I am not exaggerating or making this up.

The real problem with all these calls for firing or renegotiation calls is that everyone here doesn’t seem to understand that those with the power to fire or renegotiate have no interest in doing so...they ALL agree wholeheartedly with the radical teachers...all the way up to the governor. In that very real sense the teacher’s unions make damned sure that they are negotiating with themselves, not with any counterpart that has a different agenda than their own. They do this by being the major money and work machine for the far left politicians in California, and nationally. And as only a smallIsh minority in California does not subscribe to their far left politics, there is no way to change that. It’s an entirely rigged leftist system, and that appears to be the way California wants it. Exactly.
The only thing to do, is to remove as much federal funding as possible, and allow them to collapse enough for the population to vote for a change in the government.
If it gets really bad, the Federal government can move in to restore order.
It is unlikely to get that bad.

Are they still getting paid while non-teaching? Will they get pay checks in September?
To: mewzilla
Fire them all. No federal funds of any kind for any purpose in that state until the schools reopen. Sue the union and its leaders for anti-trust and jail them for sedition.

Everyone wants to get paid doing nothing.
Fire all of them if we are doing remote learning. We might as well go with the best lecturers in the world and hire baby sitters.

I just googled “free homeschool curriculum.” People have choices. The main issue is that parents have to work, but if the public teachers are forcing a parent to stay home with children, well, they might as well get a good education.
