Cost plus contract. The contractor is on the hook to fix their errors and wont get fee, but they will still get the cost of the repair. It sucks. Bigly. But youd never get a shipbuilder to take the risk on fixed fee unless theyve built 50 or 60 like the DDGs or hundreds like the F-16.
First ship my husband was on when he joined the Navy in 1950. At that time she had a wooden deck.
