If your kid is going to be stuck learning online, you might as well have professionals do it. Look into K12. It’s free in some states. They’ve been doing distance learning for 20 years.

Teacher unions seem to be controlling the narrative that it’s too dangerous for teachers to return to classroom. Trump Administration is running into heavy opposition in this battle.

Texas is a right to work state. No compulsory union membership, no right to strike, no collective bargaining. If my teacher son goes on strike, he loses his license.

Talk about drama. Most recover with zero long term effects. I suppose the tiny amount with the worst ARDS may have some residual scarring . This hysteria is way overblown i am 60 with risk factors and go to work treating covid patients every day. My choice is to work or not get paid. Just like teachers and everyone else. If you can’t take the job do something else.

Nice that you wish disaster on a fellow freeper. What a fine upstanding Christian you must be

I do not get the hysteria surrounding COVID-19. Yes, it’s worse than the ordinary flu. But it’s not Ebola or Bubonic Plague.

“greeting them when they get home from school”

Would be much better if they were all home-schooled.

To fix education, you have to fix high school, which means decreasing enrollment to around 35% of what it is now.

A free public educational after 8th grade should require an entrance exam - a real one - and if it’s good enough, most students won’t get in.

Cool but I suspect if you were an over 40 something high school teacher

I’m over 50, and I have ZERO fear of COVID or anyone supposedly infected with it. And do you know why? Because even with the inflated “death” counts, my odds of surviving it are around 99.7%, and my odds of not even knowing I had it are about 86% (as they claim about that percentage are “asymptomatic” - how convenient for the panic-mongers.)

Just stop already. “15 days to flatten the curve” has become face masks, social distancing, and lockdowns in perpetuity. FOUR MONTHS now, with no end in sight. Emergency “field hospitals” built entirely for show, to stoke the panic, never used and ultimately dismantled (funny how we heard nothing about that for the most part). Remember the stories about refrigerator trucks lined up outside NYC hospitals? Remember the nonsense about burying “COVID victims” in Central Park? More panic-stoking theater for the stupid masses. And the hyperventilating over ventilators... All gone and forgotten, yet the abject fear of COVID goes on. Snitch hotlines set up so people can tattle on non-mask wearers, an unhinged guy pointing a gun at someone for not wearing a mask, everyone eyeing everyone else with fear and suspicion because they “might be infected.” The whole thing is sick, as in mentally ill.

Four months on, and few people could tell you how contagious COVID really is, or isn’t, how it is transmitted, how long it lives on various surfaces. Week after week we were told, “just two more weeks”, week after week, the restrictions became more and more inconsistent and ridiculous. And as people showed how easily they could be frightened and manipulated, we got the carrot of “reopening plans” that were moronically convoluted and complex. Those plans were quickly changed or entirely discarded, with ever increasing control and unconstitutional authority being exercised by tinpot dictators in governorships and mayors offices around the country. BLM rallies and George Floyd funerals with crowds in the thousands don’t spread COVID, but a Trump rally? Spreads COVID like wildfire. Yeah, sure it does.

Enough already. Enough. How much more absurd must this become before people realize that they’ve been lied to and manipulated?
