He’s absolutely correct. However, I’d word it this way: Many states within the US have overreacted. That’s not on Trump. That’s on the Governors and Mayors.

BTW, In my state, KY, the Governor made masks mandatory, and a judge promptly bit** slapped it back.

Exactly. 7 states did not shut down at all with some small exceptions.

I think Trump has got to take responsibility for empowering them through his state of emergency, but he’s got to explain that the scenario presented to him was so dire (remember the 22 million dead, or whatever crazy number Fauci came up with?) that he felt he had to do it. And then he’s got to run through the list of governors and mayors who killed their states and name names. A plan for some federal law with penalties for officials whose edicts violated Constitutional rights and guarantees would be good too.

Oh, and fire Fauci for incompetence.
