As Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue stood beside President Trump in the Rose Garden Thursday afternoon, the head of a corporation that bills itself as Americas largest Hispanic-owned food company remembered his grandfather. The Spanish immigrant and Trump have something in common, Unanue said.
Were all truly blessed at the same time to have a leader like President Trump who is a builder, and thats what my grandfather did, the executive said. He came to this country to build, to grow, to prosper. And so we have an incredible builder, and we pray for our leadership, our president, and we pray for our country that we will continue to prosper and to grow.
But what were intended to be celebratory comments marking Trumps signing of an executive order that pledges to improve Hispanic Americans access to educational and economic opportunities instead fueled a firestorm of backlash targeting Unanue and Goya that culminated in widespread calls to boycott the popular brand.
As clips of Unanues remarks circulated on social media Thursday, Latinos and longtime supporters of Goyas food slammed the CEOs commendation of Trump, citing the presidents incendiary rhetoric and controversial policies aimed at minority communities and immigrants. By early Friday, Goya was still a top trending term on Twitter along with the hashtags #Goyaway and #BoycottGoya as a number of public figures, and Democrats such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and former presidential candidate Julián Castro, criticized Unanue a third-generation Spanish American for praising Trump.

amplified and cheered on by WaPo, just as FakeNewsMSM is doing with all these small number BLM/Antifa protests, statue-destroying Dem-affiliated groups etc.
two tweets often suffices for the FakeNewsMSM to announce a massive new protest trend!
I’m having a tee shirt made that says.
Goya or go home.
No, there are very few boycotting. It’s a few gringos on twit. Pressing the ignore button.
How dare he? Doesn’t he know he’s oppressed? Has he even donated a few mil to BLM yet? He better see that he does, so we can keep him from being oppressed...by white supremacists./s
Latinos are not boycotting. Marxist groups who claim to represent the interests of Latinos are.

Bingo!
All kind of great products. I have never been disappointed and they are usually not with the other canned products, they are in the international food section. Go Goya, be happy.
I know plenty of Dominicans in my plant that love Trump. Did they survey every Latino in the country?
One thing they make is a very good Cream of Coconut. Goes great in my Pain Killers! (Although the recipe actually calls for Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut)
Thank you for that link!
Prosper? Grow? Build? Sacrilege! Inform the Inquisition.
IIRC Goya is Cuban-owned?
My wife is Cuban & we had dinner with two other Cuban couples from S FLA this week. They are all rabid Trump supporters and bloody mad as hell at liberals & dems.
A lot of Hispanics know what is going on, especially the ones who came from commie hell-holes.
There’s probably going to be a rally around Goya page set-up on FB until it gets shut down by Zuck.
Please support Goya brands at your local grocer.
Buy some for the local food pantry, too. Recommend it to your friends. Support the girlcott.
boycott AOC and Julian Castro.
Between the croquetas and mojo sauces I can’t live without Goya either.
This article is nasty BS. This Hispanic supports Goya & Trump. They can take their evil narrative and stick it.
Another Lie. Latinos are protesting in WP land means radicals AOC and Julian Castro want a boycott.

was beto not available for a comment??
So boycotted by some Castro loving “socialismo o muerte” group. Hopefully those who know the truth that “socialismo es muerte” will participate in a buycott. I’ll be looking for Goya products next time I’m shopping.
They ate their own dogs.
God help us.
Well you won’t get TRUTH from the wapo.
Latinos love DJT.
“Hispanics” KNOW BLM is not by, for, nor about them.
