New York’s school decision a slap in the face to parents
NY Post ^ | 7/8/2020 | Karol Markowicz

Well, they did it. Mayor Bill de Blasio and his schools Chancellor Richard Carranza have finally confirmed an absurd plan to have school restart on a part-time schedule in the fall. What will parents who still have to work full-time do? Who cares! What will teachers who have school-age children do? That’s their problem. The new “Let them eat cake” is “Hire a nanny.”

The mayor treated this announcement as some sort of reflection of what parents wanted. “75% of families want to send their kids back to school in the fall,” he tweeted. The survey sent to parents had three options and none of them was “Reopen schools full-time.” The mayor had to know a majority of parents would have picked that.

Because everything to Hizzoner is about President Trump, de Blasio added, “What we WON’T do is ignore the science and recklessly charge ahead like our president. We will do it the right way. We will keep everyone safe.”

There is, of course, absolutely no way to “keep everyone safe” and, as the mayor who ignored the COVID-19 epidemic until the last possible second, even famously going to the gym the day after he was forced to close schools, de Blasio knows this.

...

There is no medical difference between sending kids to school three days per week or five. This is the worst example of splitting the baby. Part-time school will only make things more difficult for parents, teachers and — remember them? — kids.

Cuomo’s no better.

After telling Trump that the POTUS has no say in this, Fredo’s bro has put off announcing a decision on statewide reopening until some time in August.

There is no way a plan made on July 9, 2020 will survive until Labor Day.

The situation is much too dynamic. I make COVID plans every day and I tell people the average duration of a technically correct plan is 3 days before it has to be changed.

This will be an excellent opportunity for the Dept of Ed to begin defunding public schools, and to begin making cuts in their own department. 1/2 days mean half the funding for public schools. I hope by the end of Trump’s second term the Dept. of Education is gone.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

I do, too. No mask requirements, but if anyone wants to wear one, fine. And for any high risk students and teachers, remote can be available.

Why do Republicans consistently fail to seize these opportunities? Here’s an opportunity to shut the public school system down, demand tax cuts, and switch to private schools. If public schools are teaching children to hate America, why are Republicans demanding those schools open again?

Meanwhile, get a load of this. BTW, I already have heard of people abusing the loophole to attend so-called protests. And check out the end of the article from the Upstate NY enemediot outlet, a telephone number for a rat line is given out so people can squeal on their fellow citizens.

In New York state, NYS GOP is acronymic oxymoron.

The school district my wife teaches at emailed AND called people to find out if they plan on returning in August.

Imagine that, the schools having the foresight to want to know if the teachers (and others) even WANT to come back. What if half of them won't return because of the virus?

if you consider that most RINOs and ALL DNC
get checks (like most US AG) from G SoroXi,
then it all makes sense.

the Congress does not care about you at all,
just themselves. WAKE UP.

Democrats require all hands on deck in September for GOTV. Teachers who aren’t in school will make a fine, paid workforce in the scheme to oust Trump.

But, what about GOP voters, such as the Republicans here? No one here should be calling for public schools to reopen.
