NEW DELHI—The apparent speed at which an Indian government agency aims to test and approve a homegrown COVID-19 vaccine has created an uproar among scientists both in India, which is increasingly overwhelmed by the new coronavirus, and abroad. A letter leaked on Twitter on Friday suggests the first vaccines could be rolled out by 15 August, which would leave far too little time for proper testing, critics say. The Indian Academy of Sciences calls the timeline “unreasonable and without precedent.”

Roll out the vaccine and then find out whether it works or not. The ultimate “test in production” scenario.
Probably less, if it turns out it doesn't work.
They really need to get their talking points in order now that the death rate is so drastically reduced so far I have heard:
1) Asymptomatic people may still suffer severe lung damage
2) Recovering from Covid does not confer any long term immunity you can be infected again and again.
3) we need to have a vaccine available before we can re-open fully.
Being the common sense person that I am my question is what good is this vaunted vaccine if it is not possible to create long term immunity?

Inject people with water. The cure rate is over 99% since the initial hospitalization treatments improved. They could claim that it is much better than the 5% death rate before. And people would be to stupid to realized that it was never any worse than a bad flu strain if properly treated.

I don’t believe there will be a vaccine. We tried and failed with SARS, and this coronavirus is a SARS variant.
I scoff at any plans to have a vaccine in the next DECADE.
