Texas has once again broken its single-day record for new coronavirus cases. The state reported 10,028 new cases Tuesday as officials warned that hospitals are reaching capacity.
The previous daily record was 8,260 new cases on July 4. There are now more than 200,000 cases across the state, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The state also set a new record for single-day deaths, with 60.

Then that would mean the virus:
ADoes not spread as easily as originally thought.
BAffects only a certain % or type of people only.
CThe test is not accurate.

All of the above, IMO.
I have seen authoritative reports that:
1)there is little *asymptomatic* spread.
2)Possibly 80% of population is immune, either due to natural causes &/or having already contracted a coronavirus in the form of a common cold in the past.
3) Tests are ~50% accurate and known to give false positives. Some tests register non-infective particles as a positive. Antibody tests can be positive due to having a prior coronavirus infection in the form of a cold.
This may be becoming common knowledge. Monday, I had 2 service techs from a company I know requires employees to mask and to request masks on home residents, show up unmasked. They did not request we mask, did not inquire if we had symptoms and one shook hands when he left. Young men in their late 30s-early 40s.
In my area in central WI, the heat and humidity are keeping people inside, not the virus.

Interestingly you can see graphs of cases, but I didn’t see any for fatalities.
If you go to the “Additional Data” tab, they do have Excel spreadsheets you can download that includes Fatalities by county.
If you plot the average daily fatality rate, you get a very different curve from the number of cases curve the media is pushing. From what I saw it looks like it spiked some time ago and has been leveling off for more than a month.
Good to see ArcGIS in use.
...a bunch of results were backlogged from one lab and they finally reported them all yesterday.

From what I can tell, this is happening at many places all at once, too.
The progs made me hate them 50 years ago and they continue to do so.
We are willing to go with visitors having masks on if that’s what their company policy is. We also remind them to go to the restroom in the house if they need to wash hands and face too. So far, if anything, a mask makes me sweat even more out in the summer heat, expecially when it’s over 90 Fahrenheit.
I am starting to wonder if these tests are faulty there are SO MANY people with no symptoms and it wouldnt put ANYTHING past the deep state!!
You say they’re after us and I agree. But, what do we do? Most people will dutifully put on a mask and walk over the edge like lemmings if told to do so.
You’re spot on about folks not paying attention and being allowed to vote. But, things are so partisan now, there’s no going back, IMHO.
But, your argument goes a lot further than paying attention, voting, etc that is happening now. It goes back decades when no one was paying attention to who the teachers were. What their kids were being taught. Who was on their school boards. Who was in the tax assessors office. Who the Chief of Police was. And how they allowed so many things to be rammed down their throats because they were paying attention until it was too late. You can take your argument and apply to pretty much every negative thing that has taken place in our country since the 70s, if not further.
Flu vaccines can result in a false positive. That possibility has been admitted.
we have to prove they’re after us. That isn’t easy with all the information in there hands
Re: “I was responding to the posters statement that the worst that can happen is a bit of flu.”
That’s not even close to what I said.
Everyone agrees that COVID is a dangerous disease for the elderly and the infirm.
The only important issue is whether we shut down the country, or just take extra precautions with the most vulnerable.
The fact that you have no opinion - or a secret opinion - on the lock down issue is bizarre.
I didn’t say, “the elderly and the infirm.” I know that young people are being hospitalized, some in ICU, and some dying from this. Don’t put words in my mouth!
You said, and I quote: “Bottom Line...Protect the elderly and the infirm. For the rest of us, COVID-19 at its worst is just a severe common cold.”
You are very wrong. Just because you have not yet personally known anyone young to suffer from this, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. I hope, for the sake of your friends and loved ones, that it stays that way.
