But seriously, these academics are pathetically ignorant: Lee almost single-handedly prevented the post-war era from descending into guerrilla warfare; for that alone he should be recognized and honored.
End of story.
If they object, then let them resign their jobs and tenure, if they have it and look for employment elsewhere.

This is clearly said by someone who has never had to deal with a name change of a business. I handled that for banks, telecoms, and hospitals.
One does not just “cross out” the name and write a new one. Signage, documents, letterhead, Internet domain stuff...etc. will cost well into six figures and take months of planning.
Name change projects are a pain in the neck.
And while we're at it we should ban "Robert" and "Bob" as well.
