Everyone is pretending this is a NEW rule. It isn’t. F1 visas have long required in-person classes rather than online. (I think one online class was permitted)

That is subject to very loose interpretation. There are some fly-by-night schools in this country (Campbellsville University in Kentucky comes to mind) which enroll foreign F1 students into STEM Masters programs, which gives them a CPT work permit. Then they will move to California or Austin or Long Island and take tech jobs while attending classes online (I think they have to be on campus a couple of days per semester). It's a scam.

Don’t worry, the Dims will add a rider to the current defense spending bill to correct this oversight.

If the goal is simply to hurt the universities I guess this might make some sense. Not sure that's a great objective for the federal government, but fine.

Universities are DESTROYING this country. This entire Marxist nightmare we're living through is the direct result of 3+ decades of continual indoctrination. ANTIFA cells are organized, directed and receive material support from faculty members. Attacking universities makes all the sense in the world at this point.

Online students continue to fund US universities but won’t be eligible for various visas used by big business to get around H1B visa limits.

Those advanced degree visas have already been pretty much closed down.

Next you will say out economy will suffer because these foreign students will not be able to work in America and multinational corporations will be forced to hire stupid Americans.

I don't think Americans are stupid but I think our companies should be able to compete for the best talent in the world.

Nothing like an uneducated workforce to boost everyone's standard of living.

Absolutely! I have thought for years that many classes DO NOT require physical presence in a classroom. Master videos can be made of some subjects and thousands of college students can use it.

I don’t see why we should pay schools that are not fully open. They are in breach of their contracts. If they are going to teach online then shut the darn schools down permanently. Sell the buildings. Oh yeah, and reduce property taxes if that’s how schools are financed.

Hard to define "uneducated" any better than what we're seeing in young people with degrees these days.

Remote learning certainly should mean that can learn remotely.

Just wait till Harvahd administrators figure out that they don’t have to pay all those tenured professors to sit on their asses and do nothing...................

The broader benefit here is to destroy the financial system supporting these Leftist propaganda mills masquerading as learning institutions.

De-fund American universities and save our country. We don’t need Marxist, America-hating institutions. Send the Marxist professors off to jobs delivering pizzas which is where they belong.

A side effect of this is that some colleges will keep those foreign students on campus in single rooms, giving them priority over American students who will at best be able to attend on line, at regular tuition rates.

I got such a notice from the college I attended 50 some years ago, announcing their policies. Seniors and those with visa issues were among those that would be given priority access to a limited population campus.

They don’t have to open. Just stay online and let the internationals go home. Problem solved. If they need the money that much, they are mismanaging funds and need a wakeup slap anyway. Kids just get their brains turn to mush, party and get indoctrinated on college campuses.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, they are a disaster. In how they teach, how they spend money, what they teach, how corrupted and bloated they are—and it goes on and on.

But the sooner we get the hordes of Chinese spies out of the country the better.

Absolutely. Hopefully this is a chance to clean house. Every university also needs to be audited for acceptance of money from CCP which is accelerant doused on the already leftist professors.

Hey...cut them some slack. They “work” several hours a week...except for several month off each year.
