“The reservoir is still rising with all the spillways open to maximum capacity.”
Can’t water go over the top of the dam if spillway capacity is exceeded? They couldn’t have been stupid enough to have excess water go around the dam and through dirt which would wash away.
Hiwassee Dam in east Tennessee (or is it North Carolina) has a spillway and also an emergency spillway.
My thoughts exactly!
china doesn’t care about people lives. If the dam would break the loss to the electric grid is what they really worry about.
I’ve read each gate has the capacity of the Mississippi river.
A little “Us vs. Them”, mixed with the fact that not only does the chinese government not care about “millions of innocent” chinese, but more than half a billion chinese don’t care about themselves and their fellow citizens. I have seen enough evidence to know that whay they really need is a giant flood or their own hiroshima and nagasaki followed by some 1940s style Westernization. And i read that chicom general’s speech about killing every american with bioweapons and then harvesting whatbis left, so f—k china.
Dont get me wrong, part II. I HOPE it’s real.
Note that inflows are 40 acre feet per second and outflows are at 28 acre feet per second.
Both numbers are staggering, but that problem is not like to solve itself easily.
The scouring of the rivers beneath the dam can cause real issues, from uprooting pollution to riverbed damage.
Wont be fun for anyone living down stream.
Maybe unicorns DO fart rainbows....
We love the Yangste, Yangste Kiang,
Flowing from Yushu
Down to Sinchiang.
Passing though Chungking
Wuhan and Lukow.
Three thousand miles,
But it gets there somehow.
Oh! Szechuan’s the province
And Shanghai is the port
And Yangtse is the river
That we all support!
That would be one of the best things to happen to the world. The humiliation would be really damaging to them. That whole “losing face” thing.
Weather manipulation is real and has been real for some time. Check out HAARP, for example.
Nope... Rubbed my eyes and they went away... For now...
Well, if it goes... blame Canada. I’ve been to the dam and went through the ship locks when on a boat heading from Yichang to Chongqing. In fact, my trip there was only a month or so after the locks became functional. While there, I went through a building where there was a large model of the dam and surrounding area and was poking around with some questions for the folks there... I knew that China has had a horrid history of dam failures so I was specifically interested in engineering and materials. It wasn’t a surprise to find out that they went outside the country for the engineering. Turns out the engineering was primarily done by the Canadians, specifically a consortium of five companies.
Emergency spillway like the Oroville?
No, not anywhere near the same.
Oroville was in California and was killed by ignorant California politicians
“It shows the damn a few years ago, and a recent picture of the same spot. And its clear that the center of the damn has moved visibly over time.”
...and then 2 years later, in 2020, the dam managed to STRAIGHTEN itself out. Incredible! The Chinese just have great luck!

Just out of curiosity how would you go about spelling the swear word homonym?
