The victim's mom, Stephanie Hagler, tells TMZ ... she hopes once Moore's arrested, nobody posts his bail. In a perfect world, Moore wouldn't get bail. That being said, she says, "I appreciate the police department for taking the case so seriously, and I know my son appreciates it too. I don't think I will feel any relief until he is arrested. As of now it's just words on paper there hasn't been any real consequence."
The man who shot the video, Michael Curry, tells us Moore MUST be arrested because "anyone who's willing to hit a kid like that, there's no telling what they're going to do next."
The scumbag who sucker punched a 12-year-old boy dancing on a sidewalk has been charged with 2 felonies, but cops are still searching for him.
Cedric Charles Moore Jr. has been charged with felony assault in the second degree and felony child endangerment in the first degree due to the age of the victim and the violence of the act ... according to cops in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Cops say they were able to ID Moore after seeing video footage of the unprovoked attack that went down Friday a little after 11:30 PM. Cape Girardeau PD says officers have been to Moore's home and various other locations he is known to frequent, but they're getting no cooperation from the his friends and family.

Even if some criminals are turned loose too soon, it’s very important for police to do their part by getting the information on the criminals’ records. That helps future victims who might need to defend themselves against the criminals. It helps those future victims to avoid the double horror of being the targets of attempted attacks and being convicted for trying to defend themselves.

It’s good that he’s charged but he deserves a hate crime charge. Equal treatment under the law is something Americans used to believe in.

Old Cedric need to be locked up with Big Bubba and his BBF for awhile. Then, let’s see how well he can “dance” for them.

“About four minutes into the video, a dark-colored SUV can be seen entering the frame and stopping in the westbound lane of Independence Street. An adult male passenger is seen exiting the SUV and approaching the 12-year-old dancer from behind, then immediately punching the juvenile in the head.”
The victim was a member of the dance studio team and was under adult supervision at the time. The video shows him getting up to perform just after a black member of the team finished his routine and sat down. The sidewalk is the traditional performance space for this type of dancing, I guess.
The article is wrong about how the attack was carried out. The victim turned toward the SUV when he heard it stop. The assailant dismounted and began making dance moves as he approached, putting the victim at ease. The victim turned back to his original position facing away from him and only then did the assailant sucker punch him with a right hand roundhouse.
I like the fact that the DA doesn’t want to downgrade the assault charges because he can get more punishment for 2nd degree assault than for 3rd degree assault even with a hate crime enhancement.
I tell my clients to assume everything they do is being recorded and videotaped.
