. A pre-82 copper Penny is worth almost 2 cents.A pre-64 dime has $1.30 in silver....over the past few years I have “ found” about five hundred extra bucks in circulating coinage.

I’ve been culling copper pennies out of circulation for a while. Canada did away with theirs. They run about 17% of pennies in circulation. I half expect the mint to recall them if things get really tough. I find the occasional silver nickel or quarter. Actually found an Indian head penny this year. It’s nice to pay for $10 worth of groceries with a $20 bill and ask for all of the half dollar coins as change(and there were a lot of them when things got tight) and get a $15 coin in change. I got so I could see the edges when they’d count them out, and I’d get the adrenaline rush when I saw silver or gray. One time a 20 something year old cashier did a double-take on a Franklin half and said “ That’s a funny color.”
