One of the biggest issues that have come out of the George Floyd protests is the looting and destruction that has caused havoc across the nation. People were rioting and looting, all in the name of George Floyd, yet they did nothing to actually help spark the conversation about police reforms. But attorney and rapper Gysai Ross believes the looters did something good.
"Thank goodness, thank goodness you know, people, looters got a bad name during the George Floyd protests. But thank goodness for the looters, man. You have a place called Target, you have a store called Target, youre going to be a target," he explained during a 4th of July segment on MSNBC. "You know, these places have absolutely contributed to the oppression, these retail places have contributed to the oppression of our people. Theres over-policing of brown and black bodies within retail spaces. I think that a good portion of the people, white people that otherwise would not be activated this time, are realizing, 'No, this is going to affect me. This is going to affect my pocketbook. This is going to affect my community. So perhaps I should give a damn.' I think thats going to be the difference in this new era."
What good came out of people rioting and looting? Is it the black-owned businesses that were destroyed , all in the name of Black Lives Matter? Or destroying the homes, stores and communities of black disabled women?
Targets, Walmarts and other big box store chains weren't the only ones who were impacted. And saying that looting a Target store somehow moves the conversation about police reform and racism forward is ignorant. It doesn't do anything other than create a cycle of poverty. People in poor neighborhoods that rely on these jobs are suddenly jobless because their employer was looted and destroyed. Now they're having to figure out how to find a new job or keep the one they have. And these are the same people who were disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
If you want to talk about helping people of color, you would be encouraging people to be peaceful, not destructive. All this chaos does is hurt the people it's supposed to help.
I couldn’t agree with you more, decent people are getting fed up.
And a literal nobody.
WTF HAS HAPPENED TO AMERICANS????
You have a store called Dollar General, you go to get dollars!

Decent people have been fed up for a very long time.
So what? What’s changed? Nothing, except that things continue to get worse for said decent people.
Imagine this turkey getting home after a hard day of media adulation and interviews.
His second luxury car is on cinder blocks with a chasis and frame left, basically.
His house has been robbed and stripped. There are now holes in the floor where the toilets used to be and the carpeting and inlaid hardwood floors have been deliberately gashed and stained with paint.
He calls his bank and they tell him his account is now down to zero but he owes for his monthly maintenance fee. Same in the other direction for credit cards as all are maxed out with a house mortgage approved when his title was hijacked.
Would he still bless the looters?
We’ll move somewhere else.
America is probably at a tipping point soon and most of the producers can see that if it doesn’t stabilize in a good way soon, they’ll leave. Leave it to the barbarians Venezuelan/Cuban style.
The problem is there are not many viable options left on the table to go to, where civility and civilization is appreciated.
If you destroy someone's business, they will not love you more. They will hate you more. This "rapper" might be a true idiot.
WHERE is the “somewhere else” you’ll move to?!?!
Well until the economic riots happened last year, I had a place all picked out and ready to go within the next 2 years in Temuco, Chile.
It’s in the Southern Hemisphere and isolated enough with a large European Population that is very easy going. Lots of Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese ancestry.
The unrest hasn’t abated and Covid-19 has probably made it worse. It’s a bit worse than here in the states actually.
I’m trying to rethink where I would go if we had to now. Argentina is a no-go also for the same reasons.
Yep, I’d say “might” be a true idiot is giving him a huge benefit of the doubt.
