Of course the numbers always go up and never down. You are considered “currently infected” even if you have completely recovered from the virus.
You’re thinking of the PCR tests sometimes showing positive after the infection has been beaten because there’s still a certain amount of viral proteins still floating around in your system.
For most people, that’s back to negative within a week or two of beating the infection. Small numbers have shown some number of positive results for a month or so post infection. The graph I posted is for all active cases. There’s a separate - much larger - number for total cases, including cases that either recovered or resulted in death.
