Iranian Air Force UFO Intercept - 1976
The 1976 Tehran UFO Incident was a radar and visual sighting of an unidentified flying object (UFO) over Tehran, the capital of Iran, during the early morning hours of 19 September 1976. During the incident, two F-4 Phantom II jet interceptors supposedly lost instrumentation and communications as they approached, only to have them restored upon withdrawal; one of the aircraft also supposedly suffered temporary weapons systems failure, while preparing to open fire.

Every time some bad press hits about Russia or Putin like his getting ready to rule until 2036 a PR release hits about some new, unstoppable weapons system!
That is a sign of weakness.
These Rooskies are something aren’t they? They can build Buck Rogers-style weapons but they can’t keep their subs from sinking, their aircraft carriers from burning, or upgrade their Bear bombers to something more modern. This article stinks lik BS.
EMP would have little effect on the F-4 because they have analog flight controls, not fly by wire.
The further the EMP weapon is from the protected asset, the more of them you need.
So, these defenses need to be at a price point to consider them effective in protecting a small number of high value assets.
Time to start building 1960’s planes again.
MIL-STD-464
6 miles?
I FDOd 155 mm howitzers in Vietnam. Max range was 14 clicks.
Is it a “one size fits all” to account for the wide variations in wrist diameters?
Probably be better if it developed as a penis attachment... You’ll always know when it’s ready to fire...
The pulse is the thing...
Can I get one in a 110 VAC / 12 VDC version for a home-defense system? (Tuned to disrupt neural function of home invaders, and illegal highway protesters)
Hard to make promises like the “range of an RF weapon” as stated in this article.
Physics and electromagnetic shielding require vast amounts of power to overcome at range, perhaps more than can be transmitted from a single point source due to ionization/ breakdown of air.
It’s a good story though.
Despite the cheese factor, I liked the series.
I’ve met Erin and Gil at DragonCons way back. Both seem like good people.
