Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder announced yesterday that his team is conducting a “thorough review” into the team’s nickname that formalizes the discussions the team has been having with the National Football League about a name change.

Snyder has resisted changing the name of the team, outlasting protests, lawsuits, and demonstrations. But there’s no escaping the mob this time. They want another scalp to hang on their lodgepole and can smell victory in the wind...

What I would like to know is why don't conservative and Republicans have this kind of power to force corporations to comply? It is because we don't even try. For example, if Jeff Bezos used his propaganda rag, The Washington Post, to try to take down a Democratic president and attack the Democratic Party, there would have been a boycott of Amazon ages years ago. One of Bezos' first streaming series was Alpha House, where either Republican politicians are just cynically pretending to be on the right for their crazed idiot base, or they are idiots like their base. Bezos has nothing but contempt for his Republican customers. And why is it the Marxist rioters who show up at CNN? Why aren't we having our own mostly peaceful protests at these partisan fake news outlets?

I would love for the Redskins management to get up there and say that bowing to public pressure they are dropping the “Redskins” name. And when asked what the new name will be for them to say, “There is no new name. We are Washington and nothing else.” There is nothing in the NFL bylaws that require a team name. It makes it clear that the team is doing this under duress. And the people who have been complaining about “Redskins” can go complain about no name at all.
