I’m not entirely sure he’s broken any rules here. Sort of depends on what the orders in his release papers require of him. A lot of people placed under “house arrest” are not actually required to spend 100% of the time on their physical property. They are allowed time, depending on the order, to be out for exercise, for work, to visit family, meet with their lawyers, shop for food, perhaps even to have a meal in a restaurant.

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son and former colleague of Cohen, tweeted that Cohen broke “the terms of his house arrest.”

Don’t worry they’ll only enforce a crime against someone who’s pro ⁦Trump⁩ not someone who tries to turns against him for a lesser sentence. I’m sure Michael, won’t get in trouble for breaking the terms of his house arrest he’s above the law. https://t.co/tM9rtTEEJ2— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) July 3, 2020

Or maybe - to paraphrase BJ Clinton, “It depends what the meaning of ‘area’ is.”

“I will not leave the area of my furlough without permission,..."

"Area" is not very specific. Maybe the cafeteria at his house was closed.

One of the snobbiest restaurants in NYC. Cohen is pure sleeze. Belongs back in prison. Meanwhile, Stone reports to prison soon.
