Yes, there is a date when all the slaves gained independence. That was the date of the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution - December 6th, 1865.


You are right of course—I’ve pretty much posted the same thing as you more than once. On the other hand another summer holiday would be nice. Picnics in the park and all of that. But make it ours—all of ours, not just a black holiday.

Why take away Columbus Day? This is just a symbol of removing a celebration of America. Also the TIMING is bad for GOP. They are totally caving and capitulating to the mob. There are MANY great days throughout the history of this country, we can’t have a paid Holiday for all of them, and considering this was never mentioned before now, even by the first black President the GOP look weak af. They are extremely out of touch with the sentiment of their base. Don’t they even have a GUT instinct about what frustration people are feeling out here with the mob rule BS??
