I think its worthy of a holiday. I would not bow to removing Columbus day though.

No.

  1. The event is not important enough to merit a holiday.

  2. It will be seen as a major victory for Antifa/BLM if this passes.

  3. It's too close to Memorial Day and Independence Day,

“3. It’s too close to Memorial Day and Independence Day, “

4. The blacks now have black history month and Martin Luther King day. Another federal recognition for Blacks is not something Blacks really need to lessen their grievances.

I think there was major white slavery in America in its early days. From Wikipedia, which prefers the word ‘indentured’ over ‘enslaved’:

“Between 50 and 67 percent of white immigrants to the American colonies, from the 1630s and American Revolution, had traveled under indenture.”

Wikipedia refers to “white slavery” in several other countries, but prefers to refer to white slavery in America as “indentured servitude”.

Search Amazon for “white slavery in America”. I stopped counting at 10 books on the subject.

Any new or renamed holiday must honor all slaves in our past, not just black ones.

“Emancipation Day” is pretty important. 300,000+ soldiers in blue died for it too.
