Rumors Swirl: Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas May Retire
Breitbart ^ | 07/01/20 | Joel Pollak

Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas may be planning to retire soon, according to rumors in the media Wednesday.

Robert Costa reported in the Washington Post that the Trump administration was preparing for the possible retirement of Justice Clarence Thomas:

Justice Clarence Thomas, a conservative appointed by George H.W. Bush, is privately seen by Trump’s aides as the most likely to retire this year. While Thomas has not given any indication of doing so, the White House and Senate Republicans are quietly preparing for a possible opening, according to a White House official and two outside Trump political advisers who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversations.

In response to that article, Hugh Hewitt stated on the Hugh Hewitt Show that he did not believe Thomas would retire, but that he had been told Alito was considering retirement.

Hewitt said, as the Washington Examiner reported:

Hewitt suggested he learned this rumor when “people begin working the refs” this time of year.

“I’m hardly a ref, but I got a column in the Washington Post, and so they start working me about, ‘You know this person would be great if Alito quit,'” he said.

Thomas is 72 and Alito is 70 years old.

In addition, liberal justices Justices Stephen Breyer (81) and Ruth Bader Ginsburg (87) are considered candidates for retirement.

Therefore, it is possible that whoever is president for the next four years could have the opportunity to make four Supreme Court appointments.

Rumors” are being put out there to stampede the Dems to the polls in Nov. .... if Trump is re-elected, he’ll fill those slots. This is trying to ramp up the vote for the Dementocrat Biden.

Seems like it would energize people on the right to vote to protect the court from a wholesale left wing takeover.

Have we considered that RBG is Skynet?

“The virus has infected Skynet!”

“Skynet IS the virus!”

We can say with certainty that Kristanna Loken is not RBG.

On the other hand, the T-X could take any form.

Uh oh, Kristanna knows Krav Maga.

Would Alito & Thomas really retire for the good of the Country???

I would agree on Thomas since he's old but Alito is 70???!!

If so then I also agree, let's get 2 more Conservative Justices

Actually, they have only until Jan 2 or whenever the first workday is in 2021. That is when the new Congress is sworn in. So, if the dems take over the Senate, it will be vicious. Thomas has said he won’t retire. I was hoping both Thomas and Alito would have retired last year, but with the republicans inability to pick truly conservative justices, it may be for the worse.

Filibusters aren’t allowed for SC justices votes. It is a straight up or down simple majority.

It’s a POTUS election year. ...No new SCOTUS Justices until after the election.

At least they won’t be murdered, as Justice Scalia was.

I didn’t think Alito was that old.

He could simply be fed up with the nonsense of his name being part of the Court being tied into all the recent insane rulings. The Court entire is what decides, and I could understand how unconscionable that would be to conservative justices.

Why would Alito and/or Thomas even allow such speculation in these turbulent times in an election year, knowing the ramifications to conservatives?

Why aren't stories of rumors of RBG retiring or Breyer retiring? Because even if they are considering it, the Dem media keep it quiet so as not to give any fresh meat to conservatives...

I thought it was the end when Scalia died. But it was still a bit before the end.
