Rep. Liz Cheney has suddenly become one of the most outspoken GOP critics of Donald Trump.
Even more surprising: The Wyoming Republican hasnt faced any serious blowback from the president.
Criticizing Trump is not new for Cheney, the No. 3 House Republican. But she has increasingly called out Trump over his foreign policy decisions and leadership during the coronavirus crisis a risky move in todays GOP, where any break with Trump can fuel a primary challenge or nasty Twitter tirade from the president.
But Cheneys found a balancing act that few Republicans have been able to achieve. And as the prospect of a post-Trump GOP begins to come into view, her relative independence from the president could position her for another rapid rise in party leadership.
Shes got values, shes got guts, and she says whats on her mind. That resonates with a lot of people, said Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.).
In her latest rebuke of Trump, Cheney openly questioned whether the president was aware of reports that the Russians offered Afghan militants bounties to kill U.S. troops and demanded the administration take a more aggressive posture toward the Kremlin.
And a few days before, Cheney took a veiled shot at Trump by tweeting out a photo of her dad wearing a mask with the caption: Dick Cheney says WEAR A MASK. #realmenwearmasks the same phrase that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been using to take digs at Trump ...

Liz Cheney wouldn’t have been elected dog catcher if she had a different last name, does she even realize that?
If you think that in retrospect Bush was a terrible wasted opportunity that squandered the good will of his base to pursue a personal agenda (punish IRAQ, legalize illegals, new entitlements) and led to Obama (Bush's ideological successor, frankly) then you should be fortified with renewed passion and vigor to support Trump.
How did she get to the #3 spot in such a short time?
I think she has her eyes on a Wyoming Senate seat as soon as one opens up.
How does criticizing the president - her partys leader - when hes in the middle of a tough re-election fight, help her become senator from Wyoming?
Thats like saying vote for me, I fragged my platoon leader in Vietnam!
Prettier than Sarah Palin?
“””Disappointed with Liz.””””
So call her up and tell her what you think.
1-800-WAR-MONGER
I never thought that and didn’t vote for Bush the first time around (almost didn’t the second time). Bush was clearly a liberal globalist and Cheney was a long time pusher of the homosexual agenda. I was an Alan Keyes advocate in those days. Keyes summed it up perfectly after the primaries. “These aren’t my kind of people”.
Free Republic was however like teen girl fan club over Bush. It prompted one of the greatest threads of all time, “Bush Republic”.
That’s it. The Cheney family business is tied to the military-industrial complex.

She has something in common with Hillary Clinton in that regard. Would Hillary Rodham have ever been elected Senator and run for president, if not for her connection to Bill Clinton?
I miss Alan Keyes
Dick Cheney had a freaking heart transplant a few years back. This would qualify as a underlying health issue ... of course he's going to wear a face mask.
Prettier than Sarah Palin??? I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I saw Noem on TV yesterday and to answer your question, I say Yes.
Partisan Media Shills update.
Boehner and Ryan quit, Cantor was defeated and Pence went to be the Gov. of Indiana.
Fine, why does Liz tell us real men wear masks, echoing the same words from Pelosi?
“Would Hillary Rodham have ever been elected Senator and run for president, if not for her connection to Bill Clinton?”
Have you read PRIMARY COLORS? I think they were a match made in HELL and neither would have gotten anywhere without the other.
I get that but why has she jumped ahead of Congresscritters that have been there for a much longer time? Why not Jordan, Gohmert, Biggs etc.?
If Trump loses this time but grovers back in the next election, then the post-Trump GOP is still eight years out.
Trump voters aren’t going away, and we won’t be voting for any GOP 1.0 candidates.
