Parents in North Freedom were forced to protect themselves by firing a gun at their son, who allegedly shot in the windows of their home and went into the house with his own weapon, according to a press release from Sauk County Sheriff Chip Meister.
At about 3:45 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call from one of the parents at 113 South Oak Street. Dispatch officers were told the intruder and homeowner were shooting at one another. When they arrived, officers saw the shot-out windows. They deduced the man had shot out a side patio door to get into the house from a deck facing Willow Street.
Deputies found the son on the ground with numerous gunshot wounds and the parents uninjured in the home when they arrived, according to the release.
Initial investigation showed that the unnamed 37-year-old son came to the home and began shooting out windows to try to get into the residence. Windows were smashed in and bullet holes lined the siding of the building. The parents went to the basement as the man made his way into the home and fired numerous rounds inside which prompted him to reload the weapon.

This is in Wisconsin ...
Yeah, that sucks even if it were a suicide mission. Guessing a long history of despair in that home.
Trump supporter parents, antifa son?
Tragic but Im very curious.
I brought you into this world...
...and make another one that looks just like you.
I don't think we need to make everything about 'us versus them' - but that's just me...
Mental illness, lack of treatment, no where for parents to turn. I am in a similar situation. I cannot allow one of my children in my house due to violence and mental illness. I have looked for help for him everywhere, but there is none to be had.
Earlier this year, in my city, a mentally ill young adult, psychiatrist’s son, went into his parents’ house and killed his sister. Now suddenly there is mental health treatment for him.
Access to mental health treatment is a travesty in this country. We family members are left on our own to try to deal with it.
I was certain this story was going to be about Sarah Palin, her ex husband, and their troubled son Track.
Not today it isn’t.
What? Track has Down Syndrome, not mental illness
North freedom is less than 50 miles from Madison. Just sayin’
Not that small towns don’t have their problem residents.
Sometimes a kid can go bad even though the parents do all the right things. Maybe the parents will give us some clues on how he was raised. Hopefully, none of these modern practices:
Trophies for just showing up.
No religion to instill sense of right and wrong.
Religious hypocrisy.
Psychiatric drugs replacing discipline.
No training for dealing with life’s inevitable hurts.
“KID” was 37.
I think that biological clocked has quit ticking.
You’re thinking of Trig, born in 2008, age 12.
Track was born in 1989, age 31.
I often got the names mixed up too, since both are uncommon names.
The son certainly did.
Track Palin is the eldest child and son. Trig Palin is the youngest child and son, that you are thinking of. So confusing as their sister, Bristol’s son is named Trip.
This was a tragic situation...would never want this for any family...and I pray that you and/or your child can find the help they need.
Ah...ok, very confusing.
Thank you.
So, long story short, public school.
