SEATTLE — Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on Tuesday called on City Council President Lorena González to take action against Councilmember Kshama Sawant for a series of recent events that the mayor suggested broke the law and threatened the safety of others.
In a scathing two-page letter, Durkan said Sawant was essentially playing political games in order to boost the council member's standing.
"Disagreements on policy contribute to a robust public debate," Durkan said. "However, policy disagreements do not justify a Councilmember who potentially uses their position in violation of law or who recklessly undermines the safety of others, all for political theatre."
Sawant fired back with a sharply worded response.
"Durkan’s attack on my office is an attack on the grassroots campaigns we’ve participated in and helped lead alongside many others, and the progressive victories we have all won together. While her words are directed at me and my elected office, I don’t take it personally. In reality, this is an attack on working people’s movements, and everything we are fighting for, by a corporate politician desperately looking to distract from her failures of leadership and politically bankrupt administration. Our movement will respond accordingly: we will fight with even greater unity and determination."

It is interesting that the Seattle Mayor views protesters showing up outside her (secret address) home as being a huge problem because they did not provide the necessary safety she needs. Well....what about the people who actually live in the more downtown areas of Seattle where the protests have been occurring or in the CHOPO Zone itself (through no decision of their own). Are they not entitled to reasonable safety?
Apparently for the leftist Democrats, the protests are great until they happen to show up at your own doorstep.
