Pay a small sum to prove you’re a US citizen and post your citizen news on a site like that. Up votes up to the top of the displayed list
I did a duck duck go search on Citizenjournalist and my paid malwarebytes subscription kicked in when I clicked on this one in the list...

but I’m not seeing an actual product yet...
It would be nice if FR had some modern features.
I even offered Jim threaded FR Reader Apps on IOS and Android.
Back then we wanted Free Republic to get ready and enable
it’s FReepers with the Modern Tools of a Modern Army of
Digital Soldiers and Citizen Journalists.
We should have had interactive multi-media threads
featuring live content from teams of FReepers in the field
by now, taking advantage of all the Smart Device capabilities.
Media hosting could have been near effortless, even if URLs
had to be provided to content hosted elsewhere. Apps that
would take donations to Free Republic, but have no ads.
We’re not ready for that here, unfortunately, but perhaps
we can find some tools that we can all use together while
coordinating / sharing efforts here.
