Yes. “Lynch” does NOT mean by hanging. To “lynch” means to put to death by mob action without legal approval or permission. A mob beating or shooting is lynching.

How dumb is this guy? It seems that two-thirds of the "noose" incidents in recent years are either hoaxes or misidentifications of ropes intended for legitimate purposes. Whatever happened to the idea of investigating something first rather than rushing to judgment?

Exactly. Many of these "noose" incidents turn out to be hoaxes, so why doesn't he even wait for an investigation? It seems that the noose would have to have been an inside job, and what firefighter would risk his livelihood on such a stupid prank? I could be wrong, but this has "hoax" written all over it.

Exactly. About 30% of lynching victims were white, and hanging is/was the form of capital punishment for EVERYONE in some states.
Lynching was relatively rare after WWII, and has virtually disappeared in the last 40-50 years.

If he’s scared of knotted up string or twine, what happens if he ever comes face to face with fire? Of course, he will likely be placed on permanent disability just from thinking it was a noose..
