Remington Arms, America’s oldest gun maker, is preparing to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is in advanced talks for a potential sale to the Navajo Nation, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
Remington is making preparations for the Native American tribe to serve as the lead bidder to purchase its assets out of Chapter 11, the Journal reported here, citing people familiar with the matter.
The report added that the filing could come with in days.
Remington had previously filed for bankruptcy protection in March 2018.

For awhile they were offering people a Remington 1911 as a replacement for their defective gen 1 R51s if they didn’t want to wait for a fix.

I stopped in a pawn shop in Louisville Ky recently to buy an antique chainsaw that I had seen a few days earlier. They were pretty busy. I had to wait a while because they had a lot of people trying to buy guns. I watched 11 black youfs in a row get turned down on background checks. Some of then were offering the sales clerk huge cash to just sell it to them.
All of the guns in this shop were already priced 75% higher than local gun only shops. It didn’t matter to these guys they just wanted guns.

These are Remingtons, not Winchesters.
Maybe they will reintroduce the Nylon 66 rifles and turn the company around.
With names like Mohawk, Apache, and Seneca they might fit in with Indian ownership.
Orders would likely outpace production.

If she wasn't so dang old (81), I'd have my wife read your historical review... She is of Mohawk descent, but her grandmother (on her mother's side), who was full blood Mohawk, never passed on heritage details to her 8 children...

You can put one together yourself in 2 hours for half the cost.
Had the Navajo done this 165 years ago things might have turned out differently....
