Trump campaign rallies typically conclude with the Rolling Stones classic 1969 song You Cant Always Get What You Want. But that rousing musical coda may soon be coming to an end.
BMI, the musical and performing rights organization, has reportedly told the Trump campaign to stop playing the Rolling Stones music at rallies, saying that there could be legal consequences if the campaign ignores the warning.
Deadline reported that the Trump campaign has a license that authorizes the public performance of more than 15 million musical works in the BMI catalogue. But a provision allows BMI to exclude a song if an artist objects to its use.

this again?
Maybe he should use some Ted Nugent music.
The artist MUST request their songs be removed from the Blanket License List!
I can think of any number of songs that would be better.
What’s the connection between “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and Trump’s populist message.
Somebody explain it to me, because I fail to see any logical connection. And I’ve watched my share of Trump rallies, including nearly all of Tulsa.
I agree. He should start using “Street Fighting Man”.
I would think “Everybody Was Kung-Flu Fighting” might work too.
again? yes, thought it was alreadly setttled science the order of the old day was f-off. try try again.
I think the “message” in the song is appropriate for Trump. He’s making life better for everyone, even the people who hate him.
Still, I don’t like that song at all, and wouldn’t have a problem if he changed it out for this campaign.
I like the lyrics of the song Hannity used to have as the theme for his show. I know it’s about a woman escaping abuse, but the chorus is appropriate for Trump:
“Let freedom ring, let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today
Is a day of reckoning.
Let the weak be strong, let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay
It’s Independence Day.”
“Midnight Rambler” would fit better LOL!
BMI can’t always get what they want.
Heh, heh. Or Charlie Daniels.
I nominate “Happy Days are here again.”
Thanks for responding to my post.
That “Independence Day” song does pack a punch, I will admit. The problem is that while I certainly don’t condone spousal abuse, neither do I go in for that leftist “believe all women” deal.
I’m a lifelong bachelor at 62. I’ve dated my share of women and heard their stories about what creeps their exes were.
I nodded my head and tried to be as sympathetic as I could manage, without looking like a wimp. Of course, none of these acquaintanceships turned into anything worthwhile.
In my observations, most marriages end because of boredom, usually hers. I don’t completely discount stories of abuse, but I also recognize that people of both sexes are apt to give self-serving accounts of their conduct.
So, I guess this is a long explanation why “Independence Day” may not work as a Trump song.
Personally, I’d stick with John Philip Sousa.
Trump is a hugely successful workaholic. He believes in Americans working hard to get what they need.
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes
Well, you just might find
You get what you need
I think that's the part of the song he likes. The rest of the lyrics make little sense.
They gonna pay back the money he gave them for the licensing fee?
Well, I for one have never really understood why they’re using that song in the first place.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Personally, I’d finish with Glenn Miller’s “St. Louis Blues March.”
But then, I’m a traditionalist in all things. I always thought the British Invasion was payback for Saratoga, Yorktown, and New Orleans.
