Problems at a Massachusetts veterans home -- where 76 deaths were linked to a coronavirus outbreak -- began when patients from two dementia units were combined into one, a 174-page state report says.

“This decision was catastrophic,” the report on the Holyoke Soldier’s Home says, according to FOX station WFXT-TV in Boston. “Staff described the move as ‘total pandemonium,’ ‘when hell broke loose,’ and ‘a nightmare.’’’

“This [is] the most insane thing I ever saw in my entire life,” one staff member said, according to the report, the release of which was followed by the firing of the home's superintendent.

He’s a fiscal conservative who unlike his predecessor balanced the budgeg and makes the police report crimalians to ICE. No Democrat does that. Bottom line he’s governed soundly without getting caught up in political pissing contests.

It was a political appointee who is basically a good person, but a shitty hospital administrator. He was in over his head. He had no idea how to manage. He was so focused on the budget that he simply failed to act in “extra ordinary” times.

When faced with a situation that was clearly a crisis he did not listen to his staff—instead he reacted poorly due to a lack of understanding and experience. As a result, his actions and inactions resulted in deaths.

In contrast, my mother in law is at a facility, just as old and similarly staffed, literally 1/2 a mile from this facility. They reacted to a medical crisis appropriately. Their losses were 1/5th as many—and after the first wave the infection stopped.

The Administrator is the son of a long time city councilor and nephew of the former DA. “Connected” is the right term for this guy. His experience is as a Marine, not a hospital administrator. This is a case of “deadly patronage.”

He doesn't harp on Trump nor was he out there bitching like Cuomo, the Michigan chick, etc. He actually used federal guidelines, avoided overly authoratarian controls and put in practices to prevent infected Covid nursing home residents from being readmitted while ill. And he did it all nonpolitically without criticizing the Trump Admin even where he had cause to.

I get there may be wrongdoing and shirking by leadership in other states, but this is not such a case.

it was intentional murder until proven otherwise.
there were PLANS afoot to kill the elderly (Republicans)
in several states.

This is murder.
They should pay, and not the police who protect everyone.

This is one of the more ridiculous comments I’ve ever seen on FR.

If you think that Doctors and Nurses are intentionally killing people in nursing homes you have either never met a Doctor or Nurse, or ever spent any time around nursing home staff.

It is simply a cruel and borderline abusive comment.
