A 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit California around 10:45 a.m. local time Wednesday.
The epicenter was near Cartoga, about 180 miles north of Los Angeles.
People at several businesses near Lone Pine and Bishop told ABC News the while the shaking was "intense," they didn't see any damage.
Several rockslides were reported in Inyo County.
Some shaking was felt in LA.
This comes a day after a 7.4 magnitude quake hit Mexico, near the resort of Huatulco, killing at least six people and damaging hundreds of homes, according to The Associated Press. At least six others were hurt, including two people in Mexico City, more than 300 miles from the epicenter.

North of Northridge? Interesting if this is close to Northridge.

The last great quake there - in the Owens Valley fault zone - was one estimated to be between 7.4 and 7.9 in 1872.
Fortunately for human settlement it is not a largely populated area.

The "Did You Feel It" map is really different for this one. There was substantial shaking reported in a large section of central California. One area close to the quake reported a very high shake value of VIII.

Wonder if it could trigger something at Mammoth Mountain.

The epicenter was near Cartoga,...Lol! It's "Cartago," not "Cartoga." I'm about 60 miles north of there, the chandeliers in our house were swinging.

Just want to say how refreshing it is to see the word “epicenter” used correctly for a change.

cmon....crack off and float away...Thanks. This is a very conservative area of California. Trump Country.

Just remember that if it floats away, FR goes with it.
