President Trump said he has authorized federal law enforcement to arrest those caught vandalizing memorials and charge them under the Veterans' Memorial Preservation and Recognition Act.
"I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent," the president tweeted Tuesday morning.

The President, if I’m not mistaken, has made it pretty clear that Governor’s on down to the mayor of the smallest town are responsible for their own stuff.
As much as I hate to see it, I don’t want Uncle Sam stepping in and taking control of everything. Governor, on down, were elected to lead. The President gives them the opportunity to lead or FAIL, as so many of them seem to be doing.
When the riots started, Inslee was asked at a news conference about CHAZ. Said he didn’t know anything about it. Really? A section of your states flagship city is taken over by rioters, police pushed out, borders erected with armed guards, and he knows nothing about it.
As for the cops. They’re acting on orders from their leadership. Same type of leadership that sits in the city halls and governor mansions. Weak pathetic leadership that actually sides with the protesters.
You have to wonder, how many in law enforcement, when no one is looking or listening, side with BLM. It would probably surprise a lot of folks.
I understand that, but I would be very surprised if we had not already lost federal property and monuments throughout the land, not just in DC.

We’ll see how far this goes (I doubt very far) - and if any statue destroyers are arrested, they’ve got a fat pool of money donated by celebrities to bail them out and an army of “progressive” lawyers to defend them in court.

This may be true. It is difficult to envision Robert Mueller and Jim Comey’s FBI, now under the director of Christopher Wray, arresting any statue destroyers. Even if someone is arrested the DOJ, filled with career civil service lawyers hired and promoted during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama years, will make the decision to prosecute — or not.
Clinton and Obama aggressively worked to staff the federal bureaucracy with social justice warriors. George W. Bush did not weed out the Clinton appointees and most of his appointments were “go along” and complicit moderates. Trump has experienced great difficulty identifying, hiring, getting Senate approval for, and putting in place swamp draining change agents so very little of the filling of the bureaucracy with leftist social justice warriors has been undone. The career bureaucrats can act with impunity (slow walking and blocking) against orders from the few Trump political appointees who are trying to shift the mission of federal departments. Undoing 28 years of staffing the bureaucracy (Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama) with leftists and complicit moderates will take another two decades and since Trump’s hands have been tied during his first term, the effort has not really begun.
Consider senior leftist career bureaucrat, hired during the Clinton and Obama years are every day hiring new social justice warriors, fresh from college campuses (Marxist indoctrination centers) to fill entry level jobs in every federal department. In 20 years the new hires will be the senior hiring bureaucrats. The rot is deep, wide, and permanent due to civil service laws restricting firing and disciplining even in cases of pure insubordination and unlawful behavior.
For those who don’t believe, how many law breaking DOJ, IRS, FBI officials from the Obama Administration (Comey, Brennan, Clapper, Rosenstein, Yates, Strozk, Lois Lerner etc. have been indicted, much less convicted and sent to prison? How many calls do you hear demanding they be brought to justice from the media, or even Republican politicians? Crickets.
