The World Health Organization has reported the largest single-day increase in coronavirus cases by its count, at more than 183,000 new cases in the latest 24 hours.
The UN health agency says Brazil led the way with 54,771 cases tallied and the US next at 36,617. Over 15,400 came in in India.
Experts say rising case counts can reflect multiple factors including more widespread testing as well as broader infection.
Overall in the pandemic, WHO has reported 8,708,008 cases 183,020 in the last 24 hours with 461,715 deaths worldwide, with a daily increase of 4,743.
More than two-thirds of those new deaths were reported in the Americas.
The number of newly confirmed coronavirus cases in Oklahoma has set a new daily record of 478.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health department reported Sunday that total confirmed cases rose to 10,515 from 10,037 a day earlier.
The states previous record of 450 new cases in one day was set Thursday. Interim state health Commissioner Dr. Lance Frye has said a surge in coronavirus cases was expected after the state began reopening in late April.
The new wave comes amid ongoing demonstrations to protest police killings of Black citizens, Juneteenth celebrations and a Saturday campaign rally US President Donald Trump held at an indoor arena in Tulsa.
The health department on Sunday reported one virus-related death. Oklahomas COVID-19 death toll how stands at 369.

We have numbers like 4,075 new cases in California and over 38-hundred new cases in Texas on Sunday. It seems like a lot of cases in the direction of Mexico...
This story I found last night indicates that some migrant workers including ones from Mexico hired to work up in Alaska in a cannery tested positive for Covid-19.....

The good news was, until WHO realized what they said, asymptomatic people rarely spread Covid-19.
well 2 thirds of the new deaths are in the Americas. that’s what, two continents? most of the new deaths in the southern hemisphere? is it winter there now?
incubation period for Covid-19 is proportional to level of Trump derangement syndrome
Brazil and a couple of other countries have just been accumulating their cases and turned them in , in one bunch
You know what will wipe Covid from the news, If Biden wins, then we won’t hear anything about it
Nonsense story.
The 7-day trailing average death count in the U.S. is the lowest since March 27th... which is something since it trails seven days PLUS the time it takes a victim to get sick and die.
Yesterday saw the fewest deaths since March 24th, and a steady, continuing decline each day, apart from a cyclical, weekly variation.
The 7-day moving average of deaths in Oklahoma is 1, down from 8 more than a month ago.
nice. but I like the brain-dead story better
“Why is the media assuming the public not does not understand basic math?”
Because the Rat half of the country doesn’t care about the math. They get their facts from the Ministry of Truth, which delivers the day’s Truth via the media 24/7.
horse hockey.
Yeah....that one sounded like fake news to me, too...
The new wave comes amid ongoing demonstrations to protest police killings of Black citizens, Juneteenth celebrations and a Saturday campaign rally US President Donald Trump held at an indoor arena in Tulsa.
