HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the dads out there!
I am very fortunate to still have mine for yet another year 97.5 yo, WWII vet. With family & friends, he’s being likened to the Energizer Bunny his poor old heart has taken a lickin’ and just keeps on tickin’! Kids, grandkids & great grandkids are blessed and grateful that he’s still around for another Father’s Day. BTW, the “0.5” he says is very important, so we don’t leave that off when talking about his age.
So what to get the 97.5 year old who has everything he wants because he still goes to Lowe’s in his buggy aka transport chair (it is NOT a wheelchair & woe to you if you call it that)!.His appetite has seriously diminished, but one thing he still loves & will eat with gusto is steak. Our (the kids) gift to him today is a family cookout with rib eye steaks on the grill, mom’s potato salad (we all love it beats store bought hands down), deviled eggs, a big green salad with all the ‘additions’ (tomato, cukes, etc.), Brussels sprouts casserole (for the low carbers, but everyone eats it & it’s become a family favorite), & if anyone has room for dessert, Margarita sherbet & an almond cookie. The main event will be the steak I can hardly wait. :-)
BTW, dad was front & center in his favorite recliner for the Trump Rally last night he never misses a rally on TV. His goal was to be alive to vote for Trump the first time and he’s holding on for another Trump vote in November!

That is so awesome for you and your Dad!
My Dad turns 90 next week.
Every year is a miracle. Praise God!
OMG What time do you want me?
Because that meal sounds wonderful and hey, I might be one of the few but I love Brussels sprouts.
Speaking of Dads. I lost mine in 1995.
First Happy Father’s Day to all Dads. Do not listen to those who say a Dad is no longer needed. They are and everyone needs a Dad to love them, protect them and teach them.
So the other day I was thinking about my Dad and it occurs to me how completely amazing my Dad was.
Let me tell you why......you might not even believe it.
MY DAD WAS ADDICTED TO WORK!!!!
Now as I was growing up I thought working about 12-14 hours a day was normal and today, myself, my sister and brothers, all are hard workers and make money for knowing how to do the job.
My Dad worked a job, of course, as a carpenter. When he came home he immediately began whatever construction project he was on in the current home we were living in.
My Dad did what is today called “flipping houses” although once such a thing was considered a bad thing. Now they have entire HGTV shows devoted to flipping houses.
We had a big old house by the Baltimore stock yards, a farm for God’s sake, to living on the waterfront.
My father did everything, electricity, install water and septic tanks, build boat houses....and on and on and on.
“3 and a half hours,” my father would lecture us. “I want you to work 3 and a half hours every day.”
I WAS TEN WHEN HE TOLD US THAT!
And so we worked three and a half hours every day then when he came home from work, we helped him doing whatever, digging a garden, installing a septic tank, putting up wall tiles, adding a new room-which my father would often do as the mood struck him.
He loved to work and today, as I look around me, there’s not too many people loving work.
But we learned from him and we worked and man, between being a farmer or being a sailor....we had it all.
Happy Father’s Day to my Dad who is right now adding rooms in heaven and painting the golden gates.
Happy Father’s Day.... Going to visit Mrs. Deplorable’s parents today. My dad and mom are in heaven. I miss them both.
Your dad , like mine now deceased, lived and survived in a world in true chaos not the media hyped version of sheer lawlessness created and supported by the Fools that would be quivering , crying , and asking for help if faced with those challenges
Todays fools dont realize what that generation endured to allow their twisted version of repression and justice
A Happy Fathers Day to him.
God bless your dear 97.5 yo, and dear WWII vet, Dad!
Please give him a hug, and thanks for his service, from this FReeper and wish him a very Happy Father’s Day.
Enjoy the ribeyes. The entire menu sounds YUMMMM!!
