I forget the details but Sony was selling their music online and not sharing royalties with the band. The Dixie Chicks were being robbed, for sure, and the judge made an example out of the case by awarding a large damage amount.

I suspect that the 'Dixie Chicks' agent is the one calling for this. He/she needs to get paid since they disappeared and is likely hoping for a commission on the dead cat bounce they might see from sales to Leftists.
The Left is in a quandary though; they can't oppose George Bush Jr. (the target of the 'Dixie Chicks' tirade) since the Left all cheer him for opposing President Trump.

believe and youtube also has a 6 minute version with
extra verses. Have gotten away with playing it on a college radio acoustic/folk show in Mass.
I also first heard Dixie Chicks’ Traveling Soldier via the folk show at WKSU, Kent State.
