Advertisers Are Fleeing Tucker Carlson. Fox News Viewers Have Stayed.
NY Times ^ | June 18 2020 | By Michael M. Grynbaum and Tiffany Hsu

In recent weeks, Tucker Carlson, the conservative Fox News host, has challenged the Black Lives Matter movement, dismissed demonstrators as “criminal mobs,” accused a Texas police chief of “sounding more like a therapist than a cop” and mocked a CNN children’s special about racism that featured Elmo, the “Sesame Street” puppet.

His comments have generated a harsh backlash. Critics have called Mr. Carlson’s on-air monologues incendiary and accused him of making racist remarks. Major advertisers, including the Walt Disney Company and Sandals, the vacation resorts, have fled, requesting that Fox News remove their ads from Mr. Carlson’s 8 p.m. hour.

Viewers, however, are tuning in.

“Tucker Carlson Tonight” was seen by 4.2 million people on Monday, making it the most-watched television program in the country that night, ahead of entertainment fare on the major networks. His show was the highest rated on Fox News last week, and he has pulled ahead of Sean Hannity, the network’s usual ratings leader, in total viewers for June.

The advertisers will be back. One episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight this past week attracted over 5 million viewers—the largest audience on any channel, broadcast or cable. They will soon be reminded that the SJW/Antifa/BLM crowd doesn’t have a lot of disposable income, aside from the occasional Soros check, or allowance from their parents.

BTW, has BLM announced what they plan to do with the $500 million they’ve raked in since George Floyd died. I’m predicting massive pay raises for the “leaders.”

You can bet EVERYTHING you have that the Murdoch family knows exactly how popular Tucker is and that the message of reality and truth is a MAJOR WINNER. It is an interesting battle between the Murdochs and the owners of big MSM, whoever they REALLY ARE....the radical left will continue to support the MSM (NYT, WaPo, et al) at HUGE loss, just to feed the radical leftist agenda. Radicals don’t care....

Murdochs are betting big on Tucker (they might lose tens of millions) and May God Bless them! Tucker is like a WW1 machine gunner in a muddy trench. Tucker was a major truth teller on Friday night. Sean is good and Laura Ingraham has a very smart show.

I guess Magpul and Smith & Wesson don’t need to advertise these days?

If advertisers are fleeing Carlson’s show, for the same time slot and market segment they would go to CNN, MSNBC etc. But there they are paying to be seen less.. With only so many minutes of screen time to buy, law of supply and demand would apply, and they would be paying more to be seen less..

Let that sink in a minute. Would that give you less confidence in the management of those companies? Would you invest someplace else?

I fully expect to see major broadcast and cable outlets refusing to air President Trumps’s campaign commercials for their “incendiary” content.

Private companies have the right to refuse any ad for any reason. That's why you don't see pro-Biden ads on FOX or OAN.

Over the past 6-9 months, Tucker has completely transformed his show. Before he would bring in some completely unknown leftist and attempt to debate and ridicule them. It was horrible TV.

That’s so true. It got to the point where his shows were utterly predictable. Let some leftist spout their talking point, make a lame effort at countering it, part as friends. Next.

The show’s gotten a lot better since he stopped that.

A great opportunity for smaller companies to advertise to a national audience.

Disney has gone total lefty and perverse. Their kids TV shows are all anti-individual achievement. Notice that no individual ever does anything on kids’ shows any more? Almost all cartoon shows are about a group of some kind.

And nobody reads the racist New York Times except 50 IQ apes in New York’s upper westside.

Only zookeepers and democrats care about apes.

Sean Hannity is the worst interviewer on TV. You’re absolutely right about that. Far too much about himself and his tedious commentaries that regurgitate his family’s ties to law enforcement.

I still watch his week night show, but I DVR each so that I can fast forward.

The viewers aren’t worth anything to a network without their eyeballs seeing sponsors’ ads. Tucker’s days are numbered.

Why is the large percent of the country that supports conservatism not pushing back against corporations that hate us? I refuse to give money to those who oppose my non racist pro color blindness political views. BLM is a racist profiteering organization. They will end up harming all Americans.

The left only wishes it was so. Tucker is the most intellectual and unbiased and truthful of Fox pundits that brings in millions of viewers and he never talks over others.

Yes. It transcends Disney. We’ve had our heroes - big and small - Real and fantasy - mostly taken away from us by the sane lefties. Communist- nazi- socialists can’t stand individual achievement, they want to drag everybody down to their level

This is why I liked Frozen (2013) better than Frozen II (2019). The first movie was about individual characters a viewer could care about and be emotionally invested in. The second movie was about group responsibility / legacy guilt of oppression / social justice / wokeness. I didn't like it at all.

Both companies, would not be on my buy list of stock purchases, anytime soon. The entertainment sector of the economy is completely bloated.

Hmmmm.... I did buy some Disney stock during the pandemic dip. I'm thinking this would be a good time to write a letter, berating them for pulling their advertising on Tucker's show, beginning with the words, "As a stockholder..."
